Scotties Rental Car New Zealand

Picked up was super easy in Queenstown, located in where all other rentals were near the airport. Initially booked the car for 11 days, return was in Auckland, due to COVID, I couldn’t enter Auckland in time, had the car for total of 22 days before returning in Eden Terrace, again very easy to find and friendly Keith was there waiting for me after I called in before hand, and only had to pay up @ original daily rate for the additional days so return was smooth too. During the time I couldn’t enter Auckland, called Amy in Scotties office a few times, because Scotties is a smaller local business, you can always get through to a person who you know by name and who understands you and tries to make arrangement to help you out, the kind of personal service a big corp probably hard to offer. Car was reliable, drove from Queenstown to Auckland, for about 2400kms.

No nonsense service, responsive and prompt with cars that are older mine had 200k kms but good shape. However there are hidden charges and all is billed in USD and not NZD etc so it was not that cheap. Also they close early like 5pm so you need Uber if lucky to take you from Auckland airport 5km away.

Was initially a bit concerned about some review comments, but if you have the right expectations about the age of vehicle provided, then I'd thoroughly recommend. Ours was a 2005, but low mileage for the age and in good mechanical condition. We had a 40 day rental and did over 5000km without any problem. Staff Jason in Christchurch was very helpful and pick up and drop off went very smoothly. Thanks !!

Cheap and cheerful! If you’re after something with no frills and no fuss, these are your guys. Cars are older and a little tired so if you’re wanting something flashy look elsewhere. However, scotties has competitive prices and the staff were great. We had a seamless pick up and drop off, with James collecting us in our rental from the airport so that we could head out straight away. Would use them again!

Booked through a US based agency, Kayak, and didn't get the confirmation I needed so had some issues when I landed to get the car, never got the actual name of the local rental car company except Economy Rent a car, which doesn't exist! It's actually Scotties. Once I managed to find this by calling kayak, and economy rent a car in the USA I finally got through to a guy from Scotties who was awesome, had no issues from there. The location is offsite from the airport but very fast pick up and drop off courtesy. Thanks Scotties

Had a very good experience with scotties, I hired the car for 20days. And it was excellent on gas and very comfortable to drive. The service was awesome and friendly. Was easy to pick up and drop off.

Unfortunately I have had to postpone, then cancel my booking with Scotties twice in the past year. Keith was very understanding and did not charge a cancellation fee. I would certainly consider using Scotties in the future. Their rates were very good.

I had a very bad and disappointing experience with Scotties Rental. The man I talked to was extremely unfriendly and he spoke to me as if I was annoying and stupid. When I called him he told me twice that he doesn‘t have time now because he was too busy. Once he hanged up the phone while I was speaking. The service was unflexible and when I needed to drop of the car, suddenly he changed the agreement. I needed to call him three times and he left me waiting until I could finally give the car back. I felt very uncomfortable during the whole procedure. I usually don‘t make any reviews on google but this was so utterly unprofessional and miserable that I decided this needed to be said. The only positive encounter was with the woman when picking up the car. She was very friendly and we had a nice chat.

This company was shocking - its rental location in Auckland an absolute dump. We rented a car via Expedia and when we arrived, the place was completely shut. A rude man on the phone when we finally were able to reach someone on the phone said they were out of stock, even though they’d already charged us the full amount. We’re now arguing with Expedia in dispute because the owner lied and said we were late on the pick up. The place was supposed to open at 9am and we were there at 910. Still no refund, and obviously no car. Avoid at all costs.

We hired a car from Scottie’s car rental Queenstown. Annie picked us up from the airport. Very happy with the service to the extent that Annie drove us to get a sim for our phone . She then came back and picked us up . Very happy with the car . We took the car back after our trip and they drove us back to the airport .
