Essence Cafe

A small local cafe with very good food and smiling and friendly service. We were staying at a nearby Air B&B and visited this cafe for 3 days for brekfast and everytime the food was great and service team were always smiling. Thank you

I only got a coffee here and it was good. Place is called Dynasti now. I use my own take away cup and it cost $5 for a small. No discount for bringing your own cup and with no pricing available to view. Seems like a set 5$ charge for a coffee regardless. Good, well priced coffee makes me come back. I will probably look elsewhere...

Mum and I have visited Essence Cafe twice. Both times it was very busy and we were prepared to wait the 15 minutes that the waitress warned us about. 30 minutes later and after watching several customers who had made their orders after us get served first, we still had not been served. We had to wait 10 mThe first time this happened we waited a total of 45 minutes before we were served, but were given the wrong order. The second time, we took into account that it was busy so chose food from the counters display. After an hour, watching other customers that ordered after us get served and leave, we approached staff about our order. Turns out they had thrown our order slip out so we requested a refund. The amount refunded was incorrect and we had to remind them what the cost of their food was. We were given two free coffees that was prepared within 10 minutes, not even a fraction of the total time we waited. We both noted that we were the only Maori customers and believe our treatment to be racially motivated. We are disappointed by the poor standard of service we experienced, the food we eventually received was not worth the waiting time and we would not recommend this cafe to anyone.

Always surprised by the quality at our little local cafe! Re: previous reviews, I think they got rid of that one nasty, rude waitress - good thing, now everything is awesome. Gorgeous flowers from a local florist for sale here too.

I have eaten here and enjoyed the meals in the past but I must say that after three visits in the last month, I won't be back. Not sure if it was the owner or a poorly paid employee but the woman who serves needs a lesson in customer service. Last time she SNIFFED my coffee as it came out of the machine! This morning even though she saw me arrive and could have called out a friendly greeting to say she would just be a few minutes, she left me waiting inside for long enough to get bored and start eating their jaffa before standing at the door and asking in a surly voice what I wanted and then announced she wasn't open. Good grief!

Awesome tasty food. Dinner portion could've been bigger, but went back for lunch the next day and the portions seem bigger. The Wedges seemed MASSIVE! Definitely get those with bacon if you're hungry.

Had a delicious ploughman's platter while my partner has a huge and filling salad. Well worth the price, staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Owner? Unfriendly type, sitting at a table in the cafe drinking a glass of wine is that legal? I didnt check if the buisness had a liquor licence or if she was the duty manager just giving off a very weird unwelcoming vibe. Honestly the coffe was good. Cheers to the the girl working the machine + till. Wont be back though cause the vibe of a place is very important.

6 of us had lunch here recently and we all really enjoyed our meals. Lovely clean surroundings and nice food. We all recommend it.
