Eight Point Two Restaurant

Friends gave us a gift dinner and never having heard about the restaurant we didn't know what to expect. What a marvelous surprise! From the starter to the dessert, this was the best dinning experience we have had since we moved to Auckland eight years ago. The ambience is so restful and relaxing, the wait staff totally professional and the food simply out of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the Duck and Peter had the fillet, following the salmon appetiser. The desserts were irresistable, I had the chocolate, apricot and he had the lemon custard tart. Each bite of this meal was a sensory experience. Four courses and we left totally comfortable and fulfilled. We both had to compliment the chef, he is a true artist. Bravo

My husband and I enjoyed the four courseset menu grabone meal at Eight point two on Saturday night. However while our booking was for 8.15 the first course only arrived at 9.10 by which time my husband and I were very hungry and frustrated. The remaining courses came out quite slowly after that. We didn't complain as there appeared to be many others in the same boat as us but what continues to puzzle us is why the delay and why no explanation or apology even when we paid our bill. There is much on the website about excellent and attentive levels of service but this was not our experience. While the food was tasty I am not sure that we will return as the thought of such slow service is most off putting.

My partner and I booked a table at 6pm on Sat 1st Nov. We were the very first table to arrive for the night and had a 4 course meal coupon from Grabone. The service was friendly and the first two courses were served promptly. By around 6:30pm we had finished our first two courses. There were two couples sitting on my right and another older couple sitting behind us all were using grabone coupons, Despite that we were the very first table to arrive and had ordered our meals well before everyone else most people's main came out before ours! The couple next to our table even ordered exactly what we ordered pork belly and fish! I asked a waitress to check on our food, and she came back and said it would take another 4 minutes... the mains came out 10 min later. By the time we got our mains, it was 7:30pm, and the other three tables had already finished their mains! I was starving by the time food came out, and had basically inhaled it! We got a quick apology from a waitress sorry about the wait, but that was pretty much it. It was not a good experience and we would not be going back to Eight Point Two.

Have eaten at a number of restaurants in Hew Zealand and Overseas and would rate this restaurant very highly with respect to service, comfort, staff politeness and especially the presentation of food on the plate. Last but not least the taste of the food - Exquisite which left an impressionable taste on the palate. ** Well done**

I went for a friends birthday and the only option we had was a set menu. Not only was this over the top expensive$$$$$$$ they didn't have anything that I wanted to eat. The only thing that sounded nice was a starter - of which they said they could make into a main. I thought I would get min 12 scallops and some salad. Instead I got 7 tiny scallops with no roe and a sprinkling of greanery. 7 mouthfuls and it was over. That and a desert was $50 - SOOOOOO not worth it!! People save your money and go next door to the Codfather!

One of the most amazing dinners for a while. Well worth the metro eats 2015 awards. Tried their salmon, duck and chocolate meals.

A favourite dish: Poached quince butterscotch tart served with Frangelico and vanilla ice cream. Best short drinks list - Metro-Eat 2014

I had a fantastic meal here and would come back for more. It's nice and cozy friendly staff. The dessert was really yummy, so rich and decadent
