Days Bay is fantastic. There's so much to do and a great swimming beach, no wonder it's so popular!
Not the best beach in the harbour this spot goes to Scorching Bay Beach, also the east side of the coast line in the harbour get affected by dirty water as first spot first after a rainy day by the river and, well... it seems to be in UK for how often it rains here in NZ... The beach itself is like Petone but smaller. A pro the place has compared to Petone: being a contained beach, bigger than others nearby and being next to and isolated place like Eastbourne, ended up making it a very good spot for activities. You can rent bikes or kayaks, enjoy the park and restaurant on the other side of the road which also offer shelter from the constant wind and, of course, enjoy the beach in the rare days of NZ summer.
