The dining space at the back was fancy and perfect for a romantic night out/ special occasion. We had 9 course degustation menu. Overall good experience, with nicely presented food and friendly service. The portion of each course was rather small but with 9 courses it’s more than enough for us to feel satisfied. We enjoyed the salmon, lamb and desserts. We also found that the wine selection was a bit limited.
I had done a little bit of research of nice places to eat around Christchurch for my short visit and for my final night I chose Chillingworth Road, they did not disappoint. Only a short car, or in my case bus ride out of the CBD I like to travel on PT in new cities had me at the door to Chillingworth Road a few minutes before my reservation. A warm welcome and I was whisked off to the curtained off dining room, given an explanation of the menu I was having the degustation and I was left with the drinks menu, I chose not to have wine pairing given I had an early start the next morning, but would likely go for it on future visits. What followed was a delightful 2 hours of attentive service, delicious food and a couple of lovely wines. There was not anything I would fault and I left completely satisfied.
I took my partner here for her Birthday, yes it’s expensive but the food is delicious and worth it. Probably the best “fine dining” experience we have had in New Zealand. We got the 7 course menu and felt pretty satisfied afterwards
Chillingworth Road is THE best restaurant in Christchurch!!! So good that you'll forget you even had the entertainment book voucher. Money well spent!!! I love that they're not located in town! Great place for any special occasion.Food: 5/5
Celebrating anything at this gorgeous restaurant will be memorable. We chose the 9 course menu and every plate was quality with a delicious surprise. The service was impeccable and the attention to detail flawless. Best in Christchurch!!! We took our staff to Chillingworth Rd for the first time since the business changed hands. We were curious to see how the quality stacked up after five or six previous celebrations. The quality of the food, the menu choices, the attention to detail, the wine matching, and the attentive service were exemplary. Everyone enjoyed the occasion immensely, and I'm pretty sure that we will be back. We're lucky to have you in our hood!

Overall we had a nice time. However, a true degustation with a wine pairing should be presented as such; we needed to request that the wine pairing, with introduction, be set with each course. I was very disappointed in a couple of courses, namely the lamb, beef and the dessert. While the lamb and beef were agreeable dishes, they were not elevated or striking to the palate or innovative; could have made them at home. The dessert was a joke; ice cream on a rock hard biscuit gross. Absolutely average and not worth the grand we spent. Service was exceptional. You couldn't ask for finer than Chillingworth Rd. I'm not really 'fine dining' sort of gal but gosh their food, service and the environment is second to none. And they didn't make me feel silly for being a novice! Would highly recommend to seasoned fine diners or those wanting to see what it's all about.Food: 5/5
Located in a complex, ample carparks available. Good steak, well cooked, good portion and decent price, cocktails/mocktails were not available for lunch, which was a shame. Its a warm day, it was a bit heated in the restaurant, air con wasn't on. Nothing was bad nor impressive that will make us want to go back again.
