Story is a most excellent restaurant. They have a 3-course set menu they change every week. This week we started with an excellent salmon and juniper dish. This is a classic west-coast USA salmon combination executed perfectly, and the chardonnay pairing was just wonderful! The second course was a duck a l'orange to die for. I have always loved this dish, and made it several times myself - they executed it perfectly. But for me, the best dish was the dessert. It was a magnificent combination of lemon curds, tiny dollops of cream, pear puree, two types of biscuits, and two types of meringue. Each part of the dessert was delicious, but put together it was truly sublime. It was so good that while I sipped the dessert wine - which as excellent - I quickly decided to have sips of water to separate the wine and the dessert as there is no wine that could possibly match the quality of the gestalt experience of eating that dessert. My wife and I will be back, and I recommend anyone go visit - repeatedly!

Great little place that does a seasonal menu that changes daily. They were very accommodating last minute and the waiter was great. We had amazing meal - flavour that slapped the tastebuds. Would come back!

Their menu change everyday. They provide a 3 course menu; with options of meat or vege for entree and main. We tried both vege and meat dishes. They are Okay, on the day we go, all dishes are a little sour. I think I will go back again when we go to Christchurch again.Food: 3/5

Too good to pass up! A friend of mine booked a table for us but for some reason the reservation didn’t go through. I was expected to have to go somewhere else but they gave us a table anyway!!! So sweet of them and very unexpected. The drinks were amazing and came very quickly. And the set course was phenomenal. This is a must visit if you are in Christchurch. The decor is understated and elegant. Not to fussy with very intimate seating. Everything you could want. And the chef was actually interested if we enjoyed our food. Top notch full stop.

We loved Story. The chef's choice menu takes away the need to choose, which was no problem because everything sounded delicious and included a great vegetatian option. It also was delicious! We were tea-total for the night so didn't sample the wines but the zero beers were lovely. Will definitely return, and definitely recommendFood: 5/5

Service was great. Atmosphere is nice and the staff seem to genuinely want you to have a great experience. Unfortunately, I found the serving size for the main too small. I came home and ended up making food. That's not ideal when you spent $100 per head.

My husband and I had an excellent experience at Story last night for our wedding anniversary. The waitress was lovely, each dish was mouth watering and interesting, and we didn't have to make a single decision with it being a set menu. Such a great way to dine. Oh and vegetarian options were included in the set menu...Thank you. x

Lovely three course menu made with local fresh food, nicely presented with flavour. Our waitress was charming and happily explained the food choices. Simple ambiance and we will return.
