Lovely bank with lovely staff. Tony at the front desk is always so friendly and helpful, and he set up a meeting for me with Katie who is hands-down the most awesome and helpful person I have met at any Kiwi institution. She set up my account, patiently explained to me the app functionality, and why certain banking processes worked the way they did. Since I was new to the country, she also gave some pointers about things to consider when setting up my finances re: insurance, investments, loans, rent etc. All in all a 5/5 experience, and I would recommend BNZ to anyone who is new to the country and needs to set up their first account.
Just wanted to say how awesome BNZ is. I went to the Auckland branch yesterday to set up accounts, and the representative NICK was beyond top-notch , very informed, and well mannered. Hands down, thanks to Nick, I will be a forever client here. Unlike all the biased reviews below, I am a buisness man with a rather large income , so banks to me are usually very unhelpful but not in this case. IF YOU PLAN TO BANK USE BNZ there top notch.
Tried calling the BNZ 0800 number today - answered all of the automatic prompted questions and then on hold - does the BNZ think or expect to have their loyal customers wait forever wasting the customers time while they force them to wait just to have a human being actually answer the phone call. BNZ I think you need to up your act when it comes to what good customer service means to your customers rather than reducing your staff wage bill
Went there on a busy Monday but had the best bank service ever. Tony did an amazing job at helping me to open an account. Very friendly and professional. Great job!
Absolutely the worst front desk customer service ever. Went inside to ask about the shared home partner home loan, this Chinese lady did not understand what i was asking for, just asked if i was a bnz customer which i am, and then ask me how many percent deposit i have got. I said just 5%. She had that not impressed look on her face and then mumbled to herself and said 5% maybe a bit hard… she then asked where I work, I said i work in the CBD, she was like what company!? Like she was gonna judge me based on where I work and how much I earn!???? I told her my company name like it mattered to her at the front desk… obviously she wouldn't actually know my company and wouldnt have guessed how much i earn LOL She then said just swipe your bnz card and got someone else to help. The banker guy who came out to help was very polite and said they dont do shared partnership in person which is all good. However this lady needs some serious training.
Bella Guo from the business and life insurance department is amazing! Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and generous with her time and advice. Cannot recommend her enough, thank you Bella!
Went online to see what branches open - found one that said it was open. Get there - no closed reopening 10 January. Got home, rang the 0800 number eventually getting through to a person. In the end they couldn't help us. We actually need to go into a branch - would have been sorted. What the hell! How come we can go to the ASB not only get help, but actually physically guide you through doing internet banking. At home the BNZ customer help person on the end of the phone, can't see your screen so pretty useless service. To change all our banking needs to another bank would be a pain in the arse. We need to though. Personal customer service means different things to different people. They basically don't want us to go into a branch anymore.
Rotten service. Rang the 0800 business number for a replacement card - told I would have to wait up to 7 days. No problem I have my existing card. Went to use my existing card, then found it wouldn't work. Rang to find out why, told the old card had been cancelled and I would have to go to a branch if I wanted a temporary card. Branches are now a long way away as BNZ keep closing branches. Hopeless. Decided to wait and replacement card - it finally arrived only to find I have to go into a branch to get the new card activated. Hopeless service even to a priority customer. Clearly the bank don't want us so will look at changing to a NZ owned bank
Another bank that keeps closing it's branches leaving people no option but to use online banking. This however is useless when you have cash you want to deposit, or if you 'choose' to talk to a banker in person about account options. As convenient as it is, everyone is putting far too much faith into doing everything on line.. it's not immune to failure.
Worst Bank. I wanted to switch to BNZ but they wasted a lot of time and account not opened. Bad system in place. ASB is the best.
