I recently brought my road bike in for a service ahead of a long-distance ride LEJOG and had a pretty mixed experience. The staff were friendly and helpful overall — especially when I came back with concerns — and I appreciated that they refunded me $50 after I was mistakenly charged for a Standard Plus service when only a Standard was performed.nnBut for the price still nearly $200 after the refund, I expected a lot more care and attention to detail.nnThe bar tape started to come loose just days after the install. They explained their method and gave me extras, but it still didn’t feel like a premium job. Brake rub wasn’t picked up in the service either — which you’d expect would be part of a standard check.nnMost frustratingly, the included safety and service report — something you should be able to rely on, especially before a major ride — was never written. I was told “the mechanic hasn’t gotten around to it yet,” which makes no sense if the bike is already handed back to the customer me. There’s been no way to access it since.nnThis shop is fine if you just want a quick turnaround like most people — but if you’re looking for attention to detail or genuine care in the work, this isn’t the place. It feels more like they’re trying to get through as many bikes as possible, rather than taking the time to do it properly.
With the reduction of a lot of bike shops in our area, it's always fingers crossed when there are so few to go to now. But happily, the team at '99' still maintain efficient and friendly service with professional advice. We are very lucky to have them at the northern end of the Goldy
I'm a middle aged bloke that just wanted to get a little more active without having to commit to some gym membership that I was going to use 3 times and then make excuses for not going. I thought I would go back to riding a bike which I always enjoyed, so I stopped in to 99 Bikes Ashmore and Steven was awesome! 10 out of 10 with product knowledge and just an honest and helpful bloke that was about helping me without upselling me. Now i'm riding to and from work, and there's no excuses, so thank you to Steven and the team at 99 Bikes Ashmore, 5 Stars all the way!
Just came in to troubleshoot a problem with my electric bike pedal, Sean not only was super helpful in explaining the issue, the cause and how to fix it, he even helped replace the part needed for free.nnDidn’t need to do that at all and was super appreciated. Shop is immaculate and will be returning for all future bike repairs and purchases
Five-Star Bike Service!nnI had an excellent experience getting my son’s Norco dirt jumper serviced. The bike technician was incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in understanding exactly what my 13-year-old wanted. He took the time to listen, explain the process, and ensure everything was just right. The service was top-notch, and we left completely satisfied. Highly recommend for anyone looking for expert and attentive bike care!
