Authentic, delicious and affordable Malaysian cuisine. We tried the char koay teow, mee goreng and curry laksa. Great wok hay taste and delicious. Can get busy so be prepared for longer wait times or order in advanced.
We ordered the Yummy Eggplant special. Checked when we ordered that it was not spicy and had no chilli. The guy assured us it's not spicy, had no chilli. We checked by asking again when we picked up the order if it was spicy and he said not spicy. Turns out it was really spicy and had a lot of chilli in it and we couldn't eat it. The few pieces we did try, the sauce was really bland. Overall really frustrating waste of money and disappointing.
Love love Yummy Kitchen. Pretty authentic Malaysian fare! Very reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Vegetarian options: The widest variety of vegetarian options I've ever seen!
Loved the egg tofu. Quite a lot of vegetarian options and can do allium free.Recommended dishesVegetarian Laksa
Great place to get takeaways. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. I've tried a lot of places but I would have to say the fried rice and mee groeng was the best I've had so far. Simple and delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is portion size is smaller when compared to other Chinese restaurants, but overall good food and service. Parking can be difficult to find in front of the shop especially on weekends, best to park off street and walk to the restaurant.
Yummy Kitchen in Auckland is a popular Malaysian restaurant, known for its great taste and smell. Although the restaurant doesn't have many seats and can get busy, it's worth it for the delicious dinner options. The menu offers a variety of Malaysian dishes to choose from, making it a great option for those looking to try something new. Overall, it's a must-visit spot in Auckland for those craving authentic Malaysian cuisine.
Update: went again after a long time being away and it’s just as good as I remember. We had the laksa and it was so flavoursome. The staff were so lovely and food was just the right amount of spice. This is an under-rated little gem of a restaurant. It is nothing flash and lacking in decor, but the food is top-notch, cheap with large portions. Service is fast and I never regret stopping by.
Quant little place, relaxed dining, the owners are really polite and lovely. My favourite meal is the Vegetarian Sambal Chicken, it's my go-to and don't really order anything else because I love it so much! Recommended place for authentic Malay food :-
Hidden gem in the heart of Manukau. Since moving in the south Auckland from city, I have tried many takeaways in rewa, papatoetoe or around Manukau City. This place turned out the best of them all. Amazing, I have tried mostly every on rice meal and fried rice, everything is just literally YUMMY.
After eating at various 'western' diners the first 2 days in Manukau, we were craving for some flavors of home ok Malaysia is not my home but the food is close enough. Finally found this diner thru Google maps. First time here I ordered the Malay Curry Beef Brisket Rice and Malaysian Wat Dan Hor. The curry beef in particular was amazing. Wife was gushing over the Hor Fun saying it's better than any zichar Hor Fun she had eaten in Singapore. Oh and the owner also served us hot Chinese tea which "saved our lives" on that frigid day. First time eating such legit Malaysian dishes in Auckland. We came back here the next day and tried the Char Kway Teow and Rendang Chicken on Rice. Both were awesome as expected. Will definitely come back again if I ever come back to Manukau.
