The room is ok, love the jets in the bath, that's very nice. The new front door system can be a nightmare if you lock yourself out, as the system relies on wifi to be unlocked and the signal on lower levels is minimal, and you rely on a third party to fix any locked out situations for you. The photos does look better than the reality of the rooms. Rooms are clean. We stayed for 2 nights so room service or as such was not experienced by us.
Horrendous do not stay here We stayed here over new years and received next to 0 communication from John to assist us on the day. We called and called and called. No sheets or bed linen for any of the beds, house is essentially disgusting. After we left we were not given back our $1500 security bond and we’re given no details as to why. A complete scam do not waste your money here !!! Have sent text messages, voice messages, calls emails and even letters and 0 response. A terrible business owner and a threat to occupational health and safety for people who stay here
I’ve stayed here three times and John has been helpful in every aspect of my accommodation - only a phone call away,very helpful,polite and kind person.Clean and comfortable rooms,off street parking and convenient walking distance to Geelong CBD,waterfront and football ground.
This place should be called Black Star Stays! Absolutely terrible owner & facilitates for the price you pay. I booked our accomodation on booking.com. Shortly after the owner, John called. Said he was doubly booked & had to change our room for the second night to a more expensive room. No worries. Then proceeded to tell me as I used my partners card for the deposit I would need to bring cash to pay as he wouldn’t be able to take the money from the card as it wasn’t in my name. John then spoke to me a further 3 times in less than 24 hours and was extremely pushy for cash only. On arrival cash was handed over. Checked our bank account to see he had taken 2 lots of money from our account, over charging us by $30.26 cents!! What happened to not being able to take from the provided card? We were booted from our room & told me would be able to come back at 3pm or just after for the new room. Lovely, all our cold food sat in the car for 4 hours! Came back to our dirty second room! Bathroom showers have a hand shop in them half full. Who wants to wash their body with hand shop. One bottle of shampoo no conditioner. Half a roll of toilet paper left. Very poor facility’s in the rooms! Marks all over walls, missing towel rails, cob webs throughout, holes, we dropped our phone and moved the couch & there was so much food under the couch! Disgusting & would never ever recommend this to anyone else! We were in contact trying to get a receipt that he had actually transferred our money back to our account. It took all day. When the money finally went through the next day he had credited it back as a retail purchase even though when it left our account it said to gold star stays! This will be fun trying to explain to our accountant. This guy is extremely dodgy & after reading the reviews we’re not the first this has happened too! You get better facilities & a cleaner space at a caravan park for half the price!!
I had no issues with my stay, met John and he was very helpful with anything I needed. The studio apartment was just what I needed and comfortable. I will be staying again.Rooms: 5/5
Everyone's reviews were on point, he's disgusting and rude and when I asked for our money back he called the police on us. Geelong police actually called and when we told then what happened they said we don't deal with this stuff. Ok then why are you ringing us?? It was filthy, disgusting, missing door handles, he told us it had a bay view and a spa bath, it didn't. He was awful to deal with and Was too busy to discuss concerns. It cost over 600 dollars and then there was no HOT WATER so we had no choice but to leave. I'm taking him to VCAT. And based on how he has treated everyone who stays here I wont have an issue. Il also be discussing how he has more than a one star rating because this is false information. DO NOT STAY HERE PEOPLE. TRUST REVIEWS!
DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I booked a two bedroom apartment for myself and 2 adults so that we could attend a wedding. The photos looked great & we were looking forward to our stay. I had a phone call the day before from the manager/owner/whatever ‘John’ informing me that the room I had booked had been ‘double booked’ and he needed to change us into a different room. He offered me a partial refund and assured me that the new room would still be suitable so I agreed. I received no details regarding the new room, no information about any keys or how to gain access, not even a room number. When I arrived at the property I called the number listed & the man on the phone was SO RUDE!!!! He didn’t believe me that I hadn’t received the arrival details, he was sarcastic & abrupt & said “well I’m not in front of a computer so you’re going to have to give me more information” & that he “had other people checking in at the same time & doesn’t have time for this” I couldn’t give him more information aside from my personal details, because HE had not provided me with any?? He fumbled around & finally told me which room we were in & vaguely explained how to access it with a very sarcastic, rude & abrupt attitude. When I accessed the room, there was dirty washing laying in front of the door, it did not appear to have been cleaned ever, every inch of it was grubby. Every surface was filthy, the floor was filthy, even inside the kitchen cupboards were FILTHY. The bathroom had clearly not been cleaned - however they did fold a point on the HALF roll of toilet paper they had kindly provided for us. Upon looking in the bathroom cupboard for a replacement roll of toilet paper I found the end of a roll & dirty, wet tissues & toilet paper thrown in there - another indication that this place is not cleaned properly, if at all. I hesitantly called again to ask if there was toilet paper I could access somewhere. The man said to check under the bathroom sink. I said there was less than one roll of TP between the two rolls that I had found - he said “well HOW much do you NEED for one night?”. I was gobsmacked and felt so uncomfortable. He did say he would bring some toilet paper ‘when he had the time’ but after the two horrendous conversations on the phone I did not feel comfortable staying at the premises and sure as hell did not want to face this man. I felt sick. I put all of our belongings in the car and left immediately. I have never felt more uncomfortable, unwelcome, and frankly unsafe. This man is horrible. His apartments are revolting & so is he.
Advertised as 4 star, reviews 3 stars Air conditioners not working. Was told by owner to “leave back door open, it lets in a nice breeze”. Broken bed. Front door didn’t lock, anyone could come in whilst we were out or asleep. No toilet paper. Miscommunication about number of beds. Had to buy blow up mattresses. When we arrived place was still being cleaned.. waited a couple hours and ended up making beds ourselves. My advice is to book somewhere else don’t bother with this place.
If you like to sleep during the night, this place isn't for you. Multiple cars blocking our car park and doors slamming during all hours of the night. The TV remote was sticky. There was a post-it note on the fridge when we got there stating "very noisy at night time", if the rooms get cleaned properly i'm not sure why this wasn't taken down before we came in. There was an airfreshener that looked like it had been there since before the building was built and the additional pillows had no cases on them. John, maybe it's time to give up the hotel, motel, holiday inn gig.
The owner John cancelled our booking 1 day before we were due to arrive without an explanation; he was very rude to us on the phone. He tried to charge us a cancellation fee as well even though he had instigated the cancellation. We were going to Geelong for a family wedding and then had to scramble around for another hotel to stay at last minute. Would not recommend booking accommodation at this hotel as they may cancel your booking at the last minute and try and charge you a cancellation fee like they did to us.
