5 Stars - A perfect family day out!nnGeelong Waterfront is absolutely fantastic, especially for families with kids! There's something for everyone—from the fun water play area and the scenic train ride to the exciting Ferris wheel. We loved grabbing ice cream from the truck and relaxing at one of the many picnic huts.nThe beach area is clean and secluded, perfect for a peaceful dip or just lounging. Kids had a blast in the water pool while we enjoyed coffee from the nearby café. The views are simply stunning, and if you're feeling adventurous, there’s kayaking, boat hire, and even a helicopter ride!nThis place has it all—can't wait to go back. Love it!
Wow, this public place is amazing. Every time I have been to the waterfront, it looks beautiful. Whether it's a picnic overlooking the kids swimming or kicking a ball with the kids, the atmosphere is fantastic. Highly recommend this spot for all ages, couples, or solo. You will not be disappointed.
Discovering GeelongnnJust an hour from Melbourne, Geelong offers the perfect mix of seaside charm and laid-back city vibes. Whether you’re strolling along the vibrant waterfront, admiring the famous Bollard Trail sculptures, or enjoying a coffee with an ocean view — there’s something effortlessly calming about this place.nnArt lovers will appreciate the Geelong Gallery, while foodies can explore the city’s growing café scene and waterfront dining. And if you’re in the mood for nature, nearby beaches and coastal walks are just minutes away.nnGeelong is more than just a stop on the way to the Great Ocean Road — it’s a destination in its own right. Stylish, relaxed, and full of local charm.
Stopped for a short visit, 11/6 around midday. A very pleasant sunny day even though it was 4 layers and a scarf cold! Easy access to the foreshore from Bellarine and Yarra Sts. We found 3h parking on Bellarine St though we didn't try to look for parking along the foreshore. The walking paths along the foreshore for the most part are wheelchair accessible, wide and level for anyone reliant on a walking stick. Lots of open space for kids to run around safely on the grassy areas. Terrific swimming areas for all ages and abilities, note that the swimming areas are closed in winter. The area maps we encountered were detailed so we always knew where we were in relation to where we started. I loved the painted bollards and the memorial wharf walk commemorating loved ones. There are several food and rest options along the foreshore even a boat on the marina serving hot mussels and paella! It was quite busy with several school groups on outings when we were there but there was still plenty of space for families enjoying a bbq and picnics.
Perfect Family Day at Geelong Waterfront nnWe spent a lovely though chilly! day at the Geelong Waterfront while holidaying with the kids, and it was absolutely worth it. The area is beautifully maintained, with wide open spaces, fantastic playgrounds, and stunning views over Corio Bay. Everything is well equipped—from clean restrooms and BBQ facilities to plenty of spots to sit and enjoy a coffee while the kids play.nnEven with the cooler weather, there was plenty to explore and enjoy. The kids loved the big playground and running along the art-deco boardwalk, and we all appreciated the fresh sea air and relaxing atmosphere.nnWe’re already looking forward to coming back in summer—from November, the children’s pool by the sea at Eastern Beach reopens, complete with lifeguards, a diving tower, fountains, and shallow wading areas. It’s such a bonus for families and makes Geelong Waterfront even more of a must-visit during warmer months.nnHighlights:nnGreat play areas for kidsnnBeautiful coastal views and relaxing vibesnnWell-kept BBQ and picnic facilitiesnnEasy strolls along the waterfrontnnSeasonal sea pool for kids reopening from 1 NovembernnHighly recommend this spot for a relaxed family outing—plenty to do, see, and enjoy!
