I came by with my nephew to see the displays. We didn't do the special exhibition. We just brought the ticket at the door and there wasn't a long wait. The museum had three floors and they recommended us going top down.nI really enjoyed the third floor with all the nature and natural history displays. Some were very interactive and they all had very interesting information. It was nice to stroll around and look at the various things on display.nThe second floor was ok with more landscape and WA historical displays. We then somehow ended up in Hacket hall with the whale bone exhibition as well as one with sports and games, which was quite interesting. It involved walking down a spiral staircase which was nice in itself.nWe pretty much skipped the first floor, which was for a paid exhibition. We did spend a bit of time in the shop just to see what was there.nI quite enjoyed the visit, particularly the top floor. Lots of things to see and do.
Great experience and affordable tickets. At first glance the building didn't look like a museum and doesn't look as big - but boy was it huge! It has 4 floors in total with about 2 sections each except the lobby.nnIf you wanna soak it in, I think you'll need almost a whole day to REALLY see everything. Aside from displays, there's also a lot of interactive stuff inside which made the experience more fun.nnThe building itself was accessible, with lifts, escalators and stairs available so we can between floors easily. The staff were so nice too and accommodating.
Want to touch a meteor, hear stories on country, or view century old sport memorabilia? This museum has it all: science, art cultural history, and geography carefully curated over 3 floors. Each 'story' is seamlessly integrated to keep visitors of all ages engaged. There's loads of hands-on activities to keep little people moving in addition to a myriad of benches to just stop and take it all in. We went in school holidays and were impressed by how relaxed the staff were... no bag checks or security guards. This museum is very much for the people and worth a few hours of your time. There's an awesome deal where an annual entry pass can be purchased at a substantial discount.
Great exhibitions over multiple floors, showcases the different natural elements of WA across the different landscapes while also showcasing cultural development. Well worth a visit and requires minimum of 2-3 hours to visit all long term exhibitions.
This museum is very large and suitable for both young children and teenagers. My daughter and I spent the whole day there from opening in the morning to closing in the afternoon, and it was very interesting. It features many multimedia presentations that are very vivid in their storytelling. The most distinctive aspect is the numerous videos of Aboriginal people narrating their own stories, which, combined with the on-site exhibits, make each Aboriginal story captivating. The mineral display area is incredibly beautiful, showcasing the wonders of nature. The natural minerals feature either brilliant colors, wonderful patterns, unique shapes, or the tight coexistence of two minerals. It's truly a museum worth visiting again.
