This VicRoads is well hidden without any prominent street facing signage so I suggest you look it up on Google Street View before you go there so you'll recognise it when you see it. We drove past it twice before we realised it was the anonymous grey building next to McDonalds. This office ONLY does learners and Drivers licence testing, nothing else. They were extremely busy when we were there and even with an appointment for a Driver's test had to wait over 15 minutes with our driving instructor. The Hazard Perception test is done in a public area with people milling around you, sometimes bumping into your chair, so be aware of this if you find it hard to concentrate in this very small and busy office. Staff were friendly, efficient and very professional performing their tasks quickly under pressure, with a smile. The area surrounding this station is very busy with school zones, shops and lots of roundabouts, one area with 3 roundabouts right next to each other, so a good test of budding drivers skills.
Passed my drivers test no issues well over 2 months ago, however I am still yet to be sent my red P1 license card. I have called in nearly every day to resolve and I have not received an answer. ridiculous!
I was considering to undertake my driving test in this centre since it was the nearest one. However, the staff were not welcoming and didn't present a very bright attitude towards me. Therefore, I decided to go to Ringwood which they offered better service and were in fact welcoming and friendly than in Mooroolbark.
I am driving almost 46 years and I have driven in many countries. I applied to get my driving test from this centre. I had the worst experience, so inconsiderate and unprofessional. For instance, the examiner named Alan failed me for no reason after ONLY 5 minutes of driving. I spoke with his manager, and explained the situation, she searched the regulation and noticed Alan made a mistake. Therefore, they placed another appointment free of charge for me. I choose Vicroad in Ringwood location and passed my driving test successfully.
The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. They were yelling, ignoring people and they came across very racist towards many people in the short amount of time being there. The staff continued to slander many people that were there in front of them as well. Have heard horrible reviews from many people as well. Would never recommend going here for anything.
I'm not giving this rating because of my experience there. I just think it's unfair that you can't renew your licence there. When I am from Chirnside Park and have to go all the way to Burwood to renew and pay my licence this is ridiculous. Or you have to get online and pay it or over the phone. When you used to be able to pay it at the post office. So unfair especially when you don't know how to do it online. What about elderly people who still drive and don't know how to use a computer how unfair.
Employees are friendly, but in a horrible place for a driving test sitting directly adjacent to the Three Ways.
Got my learners test done here. Very helpful lady at the billing desk. Explained the whole procedure ahead with no hurry and full time while easing on the pre-test stress I had. Saw 3 driving tests of others also get cleared and happy faces.
After the experience I had on the 29th of November, I was tempted to leave a 1 star rating 0 would have been preferable, but isn’t an option. Since then I’ve decided that the entire facility shouldn’t be judged by the actions of one person alone, so I’ve adjusted it to two stars. I feel this reflects a balance of the necessity of this facility and it’s willingness to hire aggressive road-raging lunatics to assess the driving ability of a generation. I was in the middle of a driving lesson in Mooroolbark when we realised there was someone behind us apparently doing their test. As soon as it was deemed safe, we pulled into a court to allow them to pass. Apparently they wanted to use that court and considered it very disrespectful that we didn’t telepathically know this. I say this because the woman administering the test was considerate enough to stop the test, have the testee pull over and have me stop across from them as I tried to pass them and get out of their way. In her extreme kindness and willingness to help, she seated in the other car’s back seat on my right screamed at the driving instructor on my left. “Did you not see us?!” “No, you had plenty of chances to get out of the way.” The fact that we were in this convenient screaming position as a direct result of an attempt to get out of the way was lost on her. So was the idea that one can privately chide someone when they don’t have an anxious stranger caught right in the middle. For some reason it didn’t occur to her that she could say something like “we are going to turn in X direction, could you please go another way”. That would’ve been ridiculous. The level of work she put into providing real-life conditions for this test grown adults forcing you to stop so you can listen to a yelling match that could easily have been resolved at normal volume is amazing. I hope when I go for my test it’s as immersive as this, as I feel that learner must be so confident in their ability to drive despite being in a confined space with such aggressive, tactless and irrational shouting. I hope the person driving the other vehicle for their test doesn’t experience the same anxiety and instinctive fear response to getting yelled at by strangers when you’re trying to do the right thing as I do, and wasn’t forced to pull over 100m away to cry in the middle of their test until they felt they could safely continue, like I was. I’m thankful to VicRoads for only hiring the very best, knowing that your driving test is an extremely nerve wracking event requiring as much calming influence as possible. Thanks VicRoads Mooroolbark.
Racist and unprofessional staff. No wonder why they have been "labelled" as racist all around the world. A person is judged by the actions he did. Showing someone who is the boss here, extremely rude behaviour, unfriendly unprofessional staff. Saw someone taking HPT, in open which is a major security breach. Anyone can see and assist person who is taking test. What a shameful VicRoads office.
