Space management is very weak and an overlooked area. While some of the buildings facing the Main Street present a more attractive appearance, there are concerns regarding the overall state of the campus. Certain areas of the building are experiencing water leakage, and some classrooms show signs of wear and tear, including peeling paint. This gives the space an outdated feel, reminiscent of the 1980s. Additionally, the lighting in several key areas is not optimal.nnResearch capability is not strong either. Furthermore, it is worth noting that many academics at the university have limited publication records, which suggests that research output may not be as strong as one would expect from an institution of this calibre. It is a challenge to promote its rank further.
The last 3 months experience as a student has been great so far...
This university has online and physical classes, and both of them have insane courses that manage to capture you into a whole different world of learning, and the lectures and teachers are amazing.nnThe library has so many books with topics on everything and some great books like introduction to computer science and advanced guides for deepening your knowledge. At night, the building glows green.nnThe facilities are free, and you can rent rooms with three or 4 monitors with high-end graphics and specs included with the tuition. They have unreal engine, blenders, and more to further expand on coding and 3d modelling.nnIt is a wonderful university and it I'd easily a 5/5
Very disappointed with my experience at UTS. In 2024 due to some personal medical circumstances I was excluded from academic progression into my chosen course midwifery. This was due to not withdrawing from my subjects before census date so the university was under the impression that I was studying there when I wasn’t due to my circumstances. I appealed to the university to allow me to continue my studies in 2025, however the appeal ended up being unsuccessful as according to the uni I was not progressing as I should be, even though I wasn’t even studying in the first place. Leaving a negative review here because I think that the university, and others like it in nsw, should have better policies around academic exclusions and special considerations for students. I am being held back by one year to serve my period of academic exclusion, and I hope other students don’t have to go through what I did.
What a University. When I first finished my HSC I was reluctant to go UTS and chose Macquarie instead. Although my experience at Macquarie was amazing nothing beats UTS. They are amazing!nnI am almost finished studying a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering. If you are considering this stream consider UTS for their world class labs and teaching team. I chose UTS over UNSW and I have no regrets.nnAnother important to not is that UTS has incredible accessibility resources, supporting you through your studies with your own consultant and clinical Psychologist.nnThey also invest in their tech for the students, meaning you will get your own licenses for all your computer software, makes a huge difference.nnThe social life is great too, I was a part of Engineers Without Borders and I had the time of my life. If you want to get on the beers, the Underground Bars has events on here and there.nnOverall my experience has been great, I have paused my studies for now but I'm looking forward to returning.nnThank you UTS for being with me through my tough times.
