Whilst all NHS services are stretched, the whole team at Torbay Maternity unit have been exemplary, with staff assistance and support faultless. Care from arrival for induction to post birth recovery have been well managed and smooth but most of all reassuringly relaxing. The midwife for active labour was brilliant, calming and super confident. This has made for a faultless experience for my wife and one that she is so grateful for. My only recommendation would be for more funding to allow for more staff. With each Midwife and support persons shift at 12 hours, I don't know any other profession where this is acceptable, but tolerated. And yet the team can still give this level of care despite the challenges. Thank you
Joke of a unit! First appointment they kept my mrs waiting an hour and half that’s shocking in itself but bear in mind she suffers social anxiety which is on her records make things even worse 2nd appointment - had to take unpaid time off work to get there and be told oh sorry we’ve moved your appointment did know one contact you? It’s tomorrow now. Think being a midwife unit that they’d be extra cautious - especially as feelings and hormones can be all over place anyway never mind anxiety attacks and wage loss.
Never felt more passed off in my life was advised to call delivery and labour ward and get some test related too extreme high keytone levels at 31 weeks was urgent according to my midwife rang only to be told it's not and that I had to wait till the morning as there wasn't a bed for me even though I don't actually require a bed just a test to ensure that the levels had dropped its a joke I'm 31 weeks pregnant and already considered high risk
Was incredibly well looked after throughout my pregnancy and delivery at Torbay Hospital, every member of staff we met was wonderful - even with complications I felt confident in their care.
