Food was tasty and fresh. We really enjoyed it. Lots of options on the menu. The atmosphere was nice too. Service was friendly and attentive.
Although I really want to rate it 4 stars, and focus on the positives, several things seriously detract from a 4 or 5 star experience. I'll start with price - for what is Sushi Sushi quality food yep that takeout at every food court, the price seems extravagant for the variety and quality. The $60 platter consists of an excess of cheap and unimpressive California rolls, and 2 each of Sake, Maguro and Suzuki; and 1 each of Tamago, Ebi and Unagi. There were also too many California roll cuts on the platter - sure make up the "count" of pieces, but not provide the quality and variety of what I expect of a platter. For a $60 platter I would expect more pieces of Maguro, Tako, Ika, and Unagi, perhaps a few more Ebi, Toro or Tobiko to be included. Fair price for their $60 platter would be $30, no more than $35. The California roll, at $10.50, is barely larger than one $3 takeout roll. Hardly filling or satisfying. I would need at least 3 or 4 dishes. Once again no better than a food court California roll. We also had Kaisen Nabeyaki Udon Soup. The base was bland. Very bland. You would not find such a bland soup base in Japan. And believe me I know, living there for a year and eating hundreds of Udons, not to mention over 2000 individual nigiri I counted. A good point is the free pickled salad. Will we come back? Nah... Can get the same quality for 1/3 the price at the local food court sushi takeout.
This place was way too noisey and that would have been ok if the service was up to scratch, however we had to ask 3 different staff just to get some water. The food itself was not hreat, not bad but not great.
Would give this place a miss. Over $80 for horrible quality food. Fish all tasted old and not fresh, tuna was dry and nori felt old. Too much rice for some things not enough for others. The cutting of the fish looked like it was done by a 5 year old. Didn’t enjoy food one bit save yourself and go else where
Pretty fast and affordable take away Japanese food in Essendon. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. The teriyaki chicken was a little bland so I topped with chilli power and it enhanced the flavour. Staff were decent and efficient with phone take away order. Would recommend this place.
First time eating at a Japanese restaurant. Came here upon recommendation as I was contemplating another Japanese restaurant. It was good, wouldn’t say amazing. I had the Tori Don which tasted bland not much taste to it I tried adding soy sauce to get some additional flavour. When it says it comes with vegetables - it is just zucchini with a half slice of tomato. I assumed there’d at least be some carrot included. I’m told the Curry Tori Don was fine and the yakisoba noodles with vegies was delicious. Avocado maki mini rolls were ordered, they truly are mini. A cute touch that you’re given mini chocolates kisses at the end when paying the bill.
Ordered 2 pax banquet. ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH $46/pax = $92 For example: the beef as shown in photo is for 2 person. Unbelievable. Food is mostly pricey on the menu than other restaurant but the serving is super small. You possibly can get 3x serve from the other restaurant by paying 1x but you get 1x by paying 3x here. Waited for half an hour just for a simple fried rice egg and veges when there are only just 2 tables of customer. Serving time too good- can’t even describe. Customer experience - 1/10 WOULD DEFINTELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A LOT OF $$ TO SPEND BUT WANT TO EAT NOTHING.
We had the banquet A and it was great value for money. Not only it was a lot of food, but the quality of it was great. Very tasty and fresh. The service was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.Food: 5/5
Great restaurant with a variety of delicious Japanese dishes served by very friendly and attentive staff. Shashimi was fresh and the meat was cooked perfectly. They have a good range of Sake, beer and Japanese desserts too. Had a nice vibe and the place was well maintained. Highly recommend this place!
We come here at least fortnightly! It is our go to Japanese restaurant. The staff are so friendly. Best Japanese we have had in Melbourne.
