Story

Tokyo Bird is a Japanese inspired small bar located in Belmore Lane, Surry Hills, serving beers, whisky, cocktails and yakitori – chicken and other delicious morsels on skewers, cooked over charcoal Japanese style.

Headed by general manager Jason Ang and bar manager Yoshi Onishi, Tokyo Bird aims to combine the best of Tokyo’s yakitori-ya and classic cocktail bars in an intimate Surry Hills laneway venue.

Tokyo Bird is exquisite! The food taste, texture, portion and excellent service transported us to Tokyo and its culture. With no doubt, one of the best dinner experiences in Sydney.

We had our work Christmas Party here recently. The food was excellent, and the beers were cold. Would definitely recommend this place.
Wagyu and various chicken skewers were quite tasteless - bland. If is wasn’t for the chicken skin and choya matcha umeshu it’d be three stars, the pork wrapping cherry tomato was not bad either. Service was very quick and it makes me feel they’re trynna make you leave asap.
Loved this place! Drinks, nibbles and vibe, all up there. The venue manager, Andrew, made the experience even better. My notes on the booking were taken care of by him, he made us laugh, and as we were one of the last tables before closing, he let us try some of his latest concoctions. Would definitely recommend!
