So many photo spots there, warm and kind staff, specifically the manager! It was a lovely experience with a nice atmosphere there. All the food was excellent and well combined with all of the Asian food. Especially, the salmon tacos and raw beef were so delicious that I ordered them once more. My favourite beverage was a cocktail with a bit of spice and salt on the edge of the glass.
The food was great, but other than that, the whole experience was horrible. The waiters were pretty rude and I have so many examples of that. They first pestered us about drinks. Then they never came to take our plates so we had to stack them ourselves not a huge deal. There was one dish though, where there was one piece of the steak left, and the waiter stood behind us til we decided who was going to take the last piece which added so much pressure on all of us. The portions were also so small that we thought we were given the amount for 2-people for the three of us, and when we asked why between the three people there were only two desserts, they acted like they were doing us a favour and giving us an “extra” dessert. They said hills could be split so we calculated amongst ourselves how much we needed to pay, but the waiter thought they knew maths better than us, and subsequently entered the incorrect amount. So, we still had to transfer money between each other anyway. Definitely not worth the hype. Such an expensive meal for tiny portions and terrible service. Avoid!
With my partner we went to try the TOKKI experience for Valentine's Day, it was a 9-course menu where the truth was WONDERFUL!!! Dinner was a whole set of flavors where we ordered a bottle of Semillon that accompanied each dish with a spectacular pairing A detail, we were the last table since both of us with my partner work so we had to go to the sitting at 9.30, unfortunately they forgot one course, but they instantly apologized and solved the problem with a discount and a cocktail, so for the efficiency and the waitress who I would love to remember her name who recommended the Aloe gin to me, I keep giving it 5 stars
Brilliant set menu - this is what really got me into set menus! Every single dish was delightful - fun textures and complex, balanced flavours. Very full afterwards however. It was a great experience and service was great. Interior is hip and low key too.
Visited last december. The food, drinks, vibe was ok. Kingfish and corn dishes were good but the maincan choose chicken or pork belly, and i chose the pork was just ok, nothing special compared to any other k restaurant. maybe i expected too much from entree and feels like bit overpriced 70/pp.
Amazing Asian fusion restaurant - the kingfish sashimi was probably my fave, the dressing had a delicious kick and the Moro eggplant chips was breathtaking addictive.. it was so crunchy on the outside but delicate and soft on the inside with the delicious eggplant flavour.
Tokki reads like a Japanese pub izakaya but eats and drinks better than I imagined . The minimal, neon-lit setting caters for big groups, and all the exposed concrete does make it noisy, but if you’re after a vibe-y place to have a meal where you can walk in after eight without a reservation, it might fit the bill nicely. Topped with a leathery strap of kombu seaweed Miso Risky $22 is a swampy whisky Monkey Shoulder cocktail that should appeal to anyone who likes Penecillin but wishes it were swampier. Suck don’t chew on the garnish. Gojira $21 takes tequila, apple, matcha and yuzu and blends them into a fresh and harmonious tall drink. I was also impressed with the Hwyao 41-year-old rice whisky $16 with caramel-like sweetness and a bit of heat on the finish. It throws vanilla oak against oysters topped with wakame and a pleasant cucumber granita $5/each. White kimchi $9 is a bright, soupy blend of Napa cabbage, apple matchsticks and red chilli bursts. Clever uses of seaweed continue through our vegetable courses—roasted cauliflower furikake $16 sitting on a bed of nori jam, and little cos lettuce boats $10/2 topped with nori, Parmesan and chicken skin—and on into the meat. Yukhoe $23 presents a tasty spicy beef tartare with chickpea miso and soy on sturdy nori crisps. Hanger steak $36 skips the seaweed in favour of koji a mould used in sake fermentation which leads to the most tender, flavoursome experience of this often-tough cut I’ve tried. The soft tender strips are dark on the outside thanks to a yakiniku glaze, and wonderfully pink in the middle. Top it with a smear of bone marrow and wasabi salsa for a taste sensation that sent me off smiling into the night.
Tokki has a great vibe. Venue is small and cozy and great for smaller groups. I’d definitely recommend the kingfish ceviche and the Angus short rib. If I came back I probably wouldn’t get the miso flounder. We ordered it because it was recommended but it wasn’t a stand out. The coconut bingsu was also nice and refreshing. They have a wide range of delicious cocktails. My favs were aloe gin and monotaro.
Cute cozy place, aesthetic interior. Super friendly staff. Had the set menu, food came out pretty quick but lacked creativity. First entree were miso cucumbers with crushed peanuts, followed by steamed broccolini, eggplant chips, bbq corn topped with cheese and chilli powder- even had the core left on it, made it much harder to eat cheap ingredients; there was nothing unique that screamed out Asian fusion. The highlight of the menu was probably the braised pork belly and kingfish, which you can find at any other typical Asian restaurant. Menu in general was very small; lacked variety. Although food tasted good, only the service and look of restaurant compromised the experience we had.
This is a super chilled funky Korean and Japanese Izakaya style venue. The food here was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Located a short walk from Central station. Definitely worth checking out.
