The Waverley International Hotel is located in one of Melbourne's major commercial precincts, Glen Waverley, 20km south-east of the city, close to entertainment, shops and sporting venues. Upon arrival, we were greeted with what looked to be a motel, not a hotel. We thought we’d give it a chance. We were greeted by a staff member who was polite. The efpos machine was not working so we had to pay via online, which was fine. We were upgraded to a king room, which was a nice surprise and gesture from the hotel. We had also booked for 2026 by accident and the staff member was happy to change it to the correct date our fault. Overall, the staff member was very welcoming.nnWe walked to our hotel room on the third floor. Upon walking in, it was a good size, with a bathtub/spa. However, there was a very strong perfume that had been used which was very overpowering. I noticed a large pink stain on carpet I know this can’t be helped though as well as stains on the couch. The bed sheets had what seemed to be small black hairs in the crease- I removed these and thought it can happen in a dryer etc. we turned on the tv and YouTube didn’t work. It wasn’t a newish TV. The place looks to be renovated but still very ran down in certain aspects e.g large what looked to be residue stains on the walls, peeling doors, very old toilet. I opened the window, no fly screens and cob webs in corner. Overall, the place appeared clean, but we found out this was only in certain areas.nnWhat really made me concerned was when I went to plug in the charger and I saw used tissues, bits of food, wrappers and other stuff under the bed. It was everywhere. There were also crumbs of food the couch and brown splotches under the cabinet near the PowerPoint.nnAnother concern was the phone did not work. We also soon realised there was no light flashing on the smoke alarm. We raised these with the staff member on shift. Firstly, we let them know that there was a mess under the bed. The response was next to nothing- did not offer a solution or for someone to clean it. The next was more concerning. We informed of the non working smoke alarm to which the response was “I don’t know what to do”… we continued to say that we don’t want it to be unsafe. The staff member said I will log it but I don’t know what to do. Concerning considering it is law to have working smoke alarms. No offer to change rooms and no follow up.nI would not stay here again. Go across the road to Ibis or the Novotel. Was very disappointed in the response to cleanliness and safety issues.
I had a wonderful stay at Glen Waverley international . The staff were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel is in a great location, close to the shopping centre, but still quiet and peaceful.
I stayed here for a couple of days with my family as a short stopover before heading to our next destination. Overall, the experience was pleasant. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were very friendly. The room, air conditioning, and bathroom were all in good condition. There is also plenty of parking available at the hotel, which made things even more convenient.nnThe location is convenient—within walking distance to The Glen shopping mall, various restaurants, and convenience stores.
Rooms very dated, heating and cooling old, inefficient and needs updating. The rooms were also very dark with little ventilation. Nice helpful staff but property needs a lot of work and a thorough clean!
This is not a 4-star hotel. It is a motel by all standards.nThe staff is available only till 8 pm.nTerritory no clean.nThe rooms pictures on the web sites like booking.com are not the same as you see in real life.nThe attempt to cancel after first night, was fruitless.nManagement of the hotel is not responsive and the front desk staff claims they do not know who the management is.nBooked two separate beds but got one queen bed to sleep with my 21-year-old son.nWindows were likely not washed for at least a year.
