As a fishkeeper it's so nice to see aquariums looking so good with plenty of plants. Fish all looked healthy. Great staff and very helpful. I ordered four goldfish from them and they have made the long trip to their new home safely. Thanks again!

Our first visit. Was impressed at the wide range of products of varied quality. Slightly higher prices which is to be expected for this type of store but we didn't mind because we were spoilt for choice and purchased high end quality items. Recommend for sure - whatever you need or looking for as a pet/s owner ...you should find it here.

Best pet store for tropical fish in the Wellington region. James is hugely knowledgeable and helpful and through his passion, they stock many interesting tropical fish you won't find anywhere else.

Great experience. Staff were very lovely and helpful. Helped me and my partner get our first kitten. Special thanks to McKenzie, her being the one to help us. Got a great package with the kitten, kitten is healthy and has had no problems!

Staff are always friendly, fast and helpful. I like the way they remember my super-cute dog, her name and her issues. Been going there for years.

The staff at Pet Centre Lyall Bay are rude, abrasive, and incredibly unhelpful. They also lack basic knowledge about the needs of the animals they're selling in store to ensure these animals are going to good homes, with families who are supported to take care of them properly. I've lost count of how many times I've felt unwelcome in their store simply because I once told them guinea pigs and rabbits shouldn't be housed together. I now have good reason to believe they're selling rabbits from a breeder who is removing underage kits from their mum. This is so unresponsible, and they will definitely be getting reported to the SPCA. No wonder they have such a high staff turnover. If I could give zero stars I would.

Fantastic pet shop. James has been awesome in helping me set up my tank and first lot of fish. Staff are always very friendly and clearly care a lot about animals.

Lazy staff looking to get home before they are closed. Worked a 14 hr day trying to just get in to test my water of my fish tank and the girl locked the door at 5:25 and asked what I wanted because they were wanting to lock up. Save your time, go to animates as they at least care about the animals.

Not a huge selection of products, and the staff are somewhat disinterested. Prices of accessories are comparable to other pet supply places [overpriced]. Tidy, spacious and organised though.
