Thank you so much Jo for your help with our staffy. Jo has been a game changer for our family. Our staffy started to present with lead aggression at about 18months. It became such a nightmare to walk her as she would growl at dogs from a far. She was constantly guarding at home and barking anytime visitors came over or people walked by the house. Jo gave us some simple rules and techniques that we implemented and as cliche as it sounds she is a completely different dog. So relaxed and calm. She has stopped guarding by the window. We can walk past other dogs on the foot path and she no longer growls or pays them much attention. Thank you so much Jo and the team at Canine. Much appreciated Nickola, Jeremy and Puppins!
Do not waste your money at this place. My dog attended for almost 2 years in an attempt to socialise him to other dogs. For this whole time we got “perfect” report cards, but he has not learnt a single thing about being with other dogs. I imagine they just throw all the dogs in the area, without reducing energy levels and teaching meaningful skills for meeting other dogs. I’m having to start again, because this business is a money making shortcut.
Business changed from post-paid to pre-paid day care concessions fine, I understand, but failed to remind customers if they had run out of pre-paid concessions and then randomly sent invoices automated ones, the super in-personable ones you get from a computer. This caused confusion when they changed their pricing halfway through and their system couldn't handle me paying for the unpaid sessions at the new price, and it's resulted in an ongoing saga of being blamed that I haven't paid for two trips even though I've OVERPAID for them. For the price you pay premium compared to others, it is an unorganised mess. I hate to know what the dogs deal with on a daily basis we don't see. Wont be back, and wont be recommending.
Avoid this place. The dogs spend half the day crammed in cages in the back on the van and then get whacked with sticks when they start playing in the tiny area at the day care. This place either needs new ownership or needs to be shut down completely.
Obedience class is very helpful. Our puppy’s behavior improved a lot! Going to return for the next level class. Thank you!
Personally wouldn't recommend the training classes. The environment is loud, very distracting for the dogs and not conducive to learning and we honestly came away from every class feeling downtrodden and frustrated. As someone else has said in another review the back to back classes mean you're in and out with very little personal interaction and our specific concerns were not asked about or corrected during the classes. I'd really expect a lot more for the high price, when other much more personal classes are available elsewhere for a fraction of the cost which we are now enrolled in. In saying that, our pup has improved a lot in her lead walking during the basic obedience class, but we believe that's really due to our diligence with homework and practice rather than advice we learned from the class as they told us to do things we were already doing. Lead walking takes practice and time to build success with increasing distractions and we felt like this course doesn't allow for that. We're going to stick to celebrating our pup's progress at her own pace going forward at a more realistically paced training class elsewhere.
Took my dog in for an overall groom, happy with the result, and will use them again.
Our recently adopted dog has separation and socialisation issues and had Jo at a home visit to provide her advice and knowledge. The visit was definitely beneficial over and above what we'd been trying to reading online. Our dog is now also attending their daycare which is working out well, he comes home happy and tired. After a very nervous arrival for his first visit, he was excited to arrive on his second visit. Note that this review was written after 2 visits to the daycare.
Great place to take your doggo for either training or for doggy day care, even for tiny ones like we have Chihuahua x foxy, Jo has loads of knowledge and her team are really great too, couldn't recommend Canine solutions enough :D
Although we gained some great insights, I would not recommend Canine Solutions classes. They are pretty stressful because of their “sausage factory” model. All the classes run end on end and there is little to no time for individual questions or attention. The training is not tailored in anyway for your dog’s specific issues or needs and the main aim seems to be to crush their spirit. Since engaged another trainer and we are going really well.
