Fabulous place with fantastic food ! The wild venison is a banger because the chef serves it with blue cheese ! The association of flavors is unique. A MUST DO when you stop in Timaru !
Popped in for lunch with the folks and had a lovely time. The two ladies out the front were dynamite, efficient and friendly. The food was excellent, great job chefs! You HAVE to try the Korean Chicken Bowl, it's absolutely delicious and will warm the cockles of your heart. The rooms have a cool, nicely renovated, but still yester-year charm. Highly recommend The Oxford in Timaru.
I had a great experience at this restaurant the other day.nThe interior is both elegant and inviting, creating a sophisticated ambiance. We visited for lunch as a group of 8 including locals who are regulars here.nMany of us opted for the highly recommended their “Chefs pie”: Beef & Ale Pie, a generous portion of flaky pastry filled with savory beef, buttery cabbage, creamy mashed potatoes, and rich gravy. It was a delicious and satisfying choice.nThe other dishes ordered by our group were equally well-received. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. We'll definitely be returning to this wonderful restaurant.
For tourists and Asian, please be a bit alerted of this place. One staff is not friendly. The female staff who wearing glasses was not friendly to us, although we have been really nice and polite to her… I guess she just hates tourists or Asian. She treats the local white customers differently, as she smiles to them and keeps asking how the food is. However, when talking to us, her face is so cold and always ignored us when we say ‘thank you’ to her it happened 4 times during our meal.nnCome on! If you really hates customers like us, just put a label on your door to announce. We are very willing to spend money somewhere else and avoid discrimination.nnThe taste of food is ok but the portion is quite small.
Wow! Clarissa is amazing, what a beautiful restaurant and bar she and her husband have created.nFriendly and very welcoming. Large selection of exquisite wines and with recommendations of pairings.nThe food is delicious, just tantalizing.nMenu is a delight beyond.nThank you Oxford for a wonderful experience
