What I liked most about this hotel were the recently renovated rooms! They were modern, clean and very comfortable. The location was also perfect, just a short walk from the Timaru town centre which made exploring really easy.nMy only minor issues were with the access card and the lifts. We stayed for two nights and I assumed the card would be active for the duration, but I had trouble getting back in the building late one evening. However, the support staff, especially Leon, were fantastic and quickly helped me get back inside. It would be helpful if the hotel clarified the card's activation period upon check-in to avoid any confusion. Also, the lifts seemed quite old and could use some modernization. They worked fine, but required a bit of extra attention when using them.
We stayed in one of the new rooms and it was so lovely! Everything brand new and it felt really clean and comfy. Good bed! The hotel is in the process of getting redone but that didn’t affect us. Definitely stay if you’re in the area! The staff were also absolutely lovely
Got to admit I was nervous traveling with my dogs but this place was 100% dog friendlynThe building was so beautiful my daughter took a picture of it so she can paint it.nStaff extremely friendly. Only downside ...and this isn't the hotels fault....there's no grassy areas for the dogs to go to the toilet near the hotel so tricky for the dogs that will only pee on grass like mine. Had a brilliant time.
Sorry - but this was the most rundown hotel I have ever stayed in New Zealand. Strongly not recommend.nnFriendly service but the actual room 109 was way off anything that is advertised on booking.com or here on Google.nnI asked at the reception for a renovated new room but none was available. I was given room 109 after complaining about room 103 which was way worse. Room 103 came with a loudly dripping tap and a constant noise from the ventilation system on the roof outside my single-glassed window.nnThe point is: I paid almost the same amount for one night than my fellow travellers who were lucky getting a recently renovated room. That’s absolutely not acceptable.
The restaurant was great. Beautiful historic building.nRooms were clean but dated. Right in the middle of Timaru city centre. But in a quiet one way street.
