Hands down the best Italian in Sydney. Great menu and pasta options, caters to all. Perfect intersection of flavour and price. Fantastic staff. Gets busy but usually don't have problems with getting a table. Gluten free pasta available is delicious - couldn't even tell the difference. Also BYO with no corkage charge so bring a bottle and enjoy the meal.
We were here for a quick lunch after hearing all the good things about this place. Overall, not a bad experience. I’m not a Italian cuisine expert. But I do have a few Italian good friends who are chefs and they love to share their hometown handmade food. The flavour of the pasta we ordered was delicious and the price was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to tryout more that day. Will come and see if there are some other goodies. Customer service is good too. We didn’t know they are cash only but the lady at the counter let us order first in case we need to wait for too long.
We came here years ago and it’s great to see that the quality of this small and busy local gem has been maintained! The pasta was delicious but I think the garlic bread could have done with a little bit more garlic. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce; Linguine in Crab Meat Rose Bisque Sauce.
If you've been to Newtown, you would just see how popular this place is. Walk by around dinner time and there's always a line out the door of people eagerly waiting for a quick, delicious Italian feed. The ordering process is simple. You walk up to the counter and select the type of pasta you want. Then it's time to choose a sauce. There are 18 types to choose from and they range from the basic 'Napolitana' to the 'Mare E Monte' which is a beautiful mix of king prawns and mushrooms in a creamy red sauce. This is one of my favourites! They also serve up risottos as well as veal and chicken dishes. The great thing about this place is that you get to see the chefs in action because of their open kitchen. You see it all from the time they're heating up the pans to the moment they place the dishes on the counter top for service. You can't get any fresher than that!
After hearing from many people how great this place is I decided to try it out for myself. As they do not take bookings we had to wait 15 minutes in line, however we were given the menu to read over. We ordered the special “beef ragu” and pesto gnocchi, with a side of bruschetta. I found it unusual that the cheese had to be purchased separately and came in a separate container, but it was still a decent amount of cheese. Food was great and not bad pricing! Would definitely come here again!
Love the foods ! Average price for the portion as well, would give 5 stars if they have a better place, not really comfortable when it was a full house, too cramped and too close to other customers, making it difficult for us to walk too. But it was okay. Good job guys, for us as a first time customer.Recommended dishesPotato Gnocchi, Boscaiola
Forgive my crime of drowning the food in cheese but I love the stuff. The ravioli was absolutely delicious not only was it cooked to perfection but the in house sauce was beautifully done, a balanced blend of spices and right amount of salt. The fettuccine and sea food pasta was creamy to the point where I wonder if they had just finished making the cream that very morning. The sea was masterfully cooked so that neither the seafood or pasta was either overcooked or under. Honest opinion it was delicious.
If you want to try a delicious italian feast then you should visit The Italian bowl. It's a place full of vibe - great service & convenient location. The best part is that their dishes are cooked right in front of your eyes, ensuring that fresh food equals a great experience. My fave is Chicken Aglio e olio & Chicken Schnitzel.. Cant wait to visit them again!
This is really a lovely Italian culture to share those wonderful pasta dishes with your family and friends. That's why @theitalianbowl has a good range of authentic Italian cuisines that gives quality and rich flavour that you won't forget! I am excited to see all these pastas on the table. No matter food and services are highly recommended!! My fav is their gnocchi and risotto, can’t wait to go back
The Italian bowl Newtown is the best value for your money. Located in the epicentre of Sydney’s Inner West and next to the Dendy cinema, you can’t go wrong and won’t be disappointed. Choose your pasta and sauce and your generous meal is ready within minutes - you can BYO and there’s a couple of bottle shops directly across the street
