Some very good pub grub and pretty decent prices tbh.nnMy dad had the Steak and Guinness pie which was massive.nnMy brother had the Barramundi fish and chips.nnNeither had any complaints about their food.nnMy wife and I shared the sweet and spicy ribs a and the sauce was amazing.nnPortion size and quality of the hot chips were also great as was the gravy.
You can't go past this for a good pub vibe. The atmosphere is excellent and service is fantastic.nnWhen you take the family for outings around Gold Creek this is the place to stop.nnThe salad and parmi were not as nice as I would have expected comparing to somewhere like the Kingston hotel but prices are reasonable and it was still good food.nnI found the wings surprisingly large for the price you pay and delicious.nnThe venue has great entertainment, games for kids and a good amount of tables. Some days you can't get a spot, I've made sure to call ahead.nnWhilst it wasn't my favourite parmigiana, the menu overall is pretty good I love the pie in winter.nnSorry for bad photos, I was too hungry to eat through before we took them!
Girlfriend and I decided to give this a go, we both had chicken schnitzel/parmi’s, the peppercorn sauce was very watered down and had no flavour. The mushroom sauce was also watered down and barely had any mushrooms in it.
Always a good time going to The George; good service, good food, good atmosphere. I'm yet to find a better pub in Canberra. I will travel up to The George despite living in the deep south.nLove that it's actually a pub, surprisingly hard to come by these days with all the clubs and RSLs.nnVery good choice of beers on tap.nRestaurant serves up good food surprisingly fast, even when it's packed.nThe decor is great, both inside and out, including inside and outside heating to get you through a night out in winter.nThey also frequently have live music outside.nnOn my last visit I got the chef's special, Red Wine Lamb Pie, it was superb!
nnAn absolutely unforgettable experience at The George Harcourt Inn!nnA huge shoutout to the incredible chefs – Hank, Jacob, Sonam, Louis, Mari, and Chencho – and to the wonderful bar staff who were patient, kind and very good looking, may I add!.nnFrom the entrees to the mains to the desserts, every single dish was a star. I’m from Melbourne, and food there is known for its high quality and variety. But let me say this – in my 20 years in Australia, I’ve had salt and pepper squid countless times, and never have I tasted one like this. Perfectly crisp, lightly crumbed just right, not heavy, and so delicious I didn’t even need tartare sauce. It was just an entrée size, but it filled me up beautifully.nnThere were 8 of us at the table, and every single main meal was devoured – from fries to burgers, steak to sausages – everything was absolutely divine. And then came the desserts: the pavlova, the mud cake, and the orange almond flourless cake. Each one was priced fairly, bursting with flavour, and left us wanting more.nnThe venue itself is brilliant – whether inside or outside, there’s plenty of seating, loads of parking, and it’s perfectly located right by the Dinosaur Museum and Crystal Shop, making it a fantastic spot to spend an entire afternoon.nnDespite being absolutely chockers with families and kids, the team managed everything with speed, efficiency, and warm smiles. Our meals came out quickly, without any delay, and every bite was pure joy.nnIf I could give 100 stars, I absolutely would. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant – thank you for having us. I can’t wait to return and try even more from your menu. God bless you all.
