A bit pricey but worth a visit if you are in Frankton heading to Queenstown. The staff aren't very friendly but the food was tasty and of decent quantity. Location, especially the outdoor seating is lovely as it is right on the water. The hot chocolate could have been better though! Would definitely go back when we visit Queenstown next.
Cozy cafe in Frankton. We didn’t realize it’s packed with people until we came inside. It’s very low key from outside I think but pleasantly surprised that it is popular with the locals and tourists alike. Came for breakfast as recommended by a friend. Good selection of dishes, they change their menu per season. Great service and nice view. The Egg Benedict was delicious! And the dessert was perfect with a cup of tea/coffee. Could be busy but don’t worry, there’s loads of parking space. They’ll even subsidize your parking ticket if you can’t find a space outside the cafe and use the Pay &Display outside.
The Boatshed Cafe is beautifully situated right on the lake shore with stunning views across the lake to the mountains. It's very busy for breakfast and lunch at weekends, so booking is advised if you don't want a 20-minute plus wait. Also, shorefront tables have the best view, but need a nice day too. Coffee and food are very good and service is efficient and polite. Some wine options are also available. Definitely the best way to brunch-start a sunny day as the view and the multitude of birds in the tree will transport you to a happy place.
Cool atmosphere and design, delicious food and beautiful views. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment. We went on a weekday, thinking it wouldn’t be that crowded. Couldn’t be more wrong. Was lucky to have waited 20mins for a table, with an amazing view. I have to say the only downside was the staff weren’t the friendliest. A pity for such an amazing cafe. There’s limited parking just in front of the cafe.
Love this place - friendly staff, great food, great coffee and situated in a historic boathouse right on the lake. Very busy in the mornings but worth the wait. And, of course - the views are spectacular. Grab a coffee then another one and enjoy the place.
Great cafe located in a historical building. Delicious food and beautiful views, attentive service as well. Their menu is seasonal, local and interesting, definitely not your average copy and paste cafe menu. I’d recommend coming here over some other cafes in town as it has a lot more character and you can tell that the menu was carefully curated. I really enjoyed the open pie that was filled with beef and wild mushroom stew. The flavours were well-balanced and the pastry was crisp and flakey. The seafood chowder differs from the traditional chowder style, but in a good way. It was very satisfying biting into large chunks of fresh seafood while mopping up the creamy soup with fresh, aromatic bread.
Really enjoyed our food. Portions were generous and came quickly and well presented. Attentive staff and nice setting. Just a couple of minor things. Hot chocolates were a little cold - a problem at a lot of cafes. Muffin was a little bready. Avocado toast was generous but a little under seasoned. Mushroom on toast was a bit too salty.
Lovely place. Had the Korean burger and crisp potatoes. Potatoes seemed to have been baked and then fried, something I will try in the air fryer when I get back home. Coffee nice too. Relaxed, easy parking.
Loved the breakfast and vibes so much that we came two days in a row. For a place with such a beautiful view, it could’ve done standard food, and people will still come. Yet, they have gone above and beyond to serve delicious food and with fantastic hospitality! The seafood chowder is really satisfying as breakfast: warm and chunky and tasty. The blueberry French toast looks like it’s made for Instagram but turns out to taste amazing IRL: goey on the inside and crispy on the outside, and loaded with fresh fruit. Would highly recommend grabbing some takeaway as well if you’re headed on a road trip. There is a large selection of pastries at the counter that are hard to resist.
A café with a nice atmosphere by the lake. Even during weekday morning hours, it was busy and we waited 30 minutes. The terrace has a nice view of the lake.
