The staff at True South Dining Room and The Rees Hotel are wonderful and attentive, the level of service was the best we experienced in Queenstown and on our last day too! The food was well priced, well presented, high quality, thoughtful and delicious. As we booked dinner at 7pm the view was not visible, so I recommend booking before or around sundown if you wanted to enjoy the view. Never the less the ambience was great, the food and service were top notch. Thank you for the cherry on top of our visit to Queenstown, especially after experiencing some discrimination at the Boatshed earlier in our trip. We look forward to dining with you again!!
What a fabulous dining experience with my family. I booked a table to celebrate my wife's birthday and boy the food and friendly staff completely exceeded my expectation. Highly recommended! Kid-friendliness: My 5yo daughter also had a great time colouring a collectuon of cartoon chraracters.
It was our first oversea trip after Covid. My husband and I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner in queens town. One of the drink came with bad mint leaf. We didn’t want to make a big deal for that However, one of the main course we ordered had a moldy raspberry which killed our appetite. The female staff was friendly and obviously it’s the kitchen not the waiter who made the mistake. The male waiter offered to waive the cost for that main dish quite basic approach there but ok…. and the drink with bad leaf. He offered to make a new drink and was telling us the bad leaf was from the crush of mint leaves to make the drink.I just think to this point, It was unnecessary and Disappointing excuse and I think I can tell what is fresh crushed leaves and bad ones. We ordered something else instead. I got “sorry “from the male staff but honestly I don’t think he felt sorry at all when he gave me that “education” about the leaf. Overall not recommending this place to anyone who wants to enjoy their meal. I’m sure it’s not an everyday incidence but imagine how it makes you feel to find such poor quality food from a restaurant like this. We paid and left because I don’t want to argue further on the spot on my vacation to ruin the night. The staff man who was “trying” to solve the issue, I think he didn’t care at all. I would not go back for sure and will help others to avoid it if I can.
I was staying at The Rees where the restaurant is located and booked dinner expecting a pleasant meal. The restaurant overlooks tha lake and the menu is creative and the wine list, excellent. I did not expect the wonderful fine dining experience that was to come. Every mouthful was a taste sensation. It was without doubt the best meal I enjoyed in Queenstown and I went to all the foodie recommended venues. Service was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere understated and the whole experience was delightful! My compliments to the chef & the whole team on a truly memorable experience.

True South provided the perfect cozy dinner for two to finish off the evening of our elopement in Queenstown! The lovely staff had reserved us a corner window seat and provided us with a very cute congratulatory dessert. They absolutely made us feel very special and the food was to die for.
Enjoy a fantastic evening here with my beautiful wife, awesome meals, stunning views and great service. Smiles all round from us tonight. Thank you.Food: 5/5
Hi I would like to give some feedbacks on my fresh encounter last night at True South Dining Room. I gave my mum a very special birthday holiday trip to Queenstown NZ from Melbourne AU. I Booked the birthday dinner at True South Dinning last night because of the great reviews on all reputable online platforms. On my booking, I was also appreciate if I can have a lake view table for this special occasion. Upon arrival, the staffs were friendly and we were also arranged to the lake view table indeed. Food was also amazing, 2 hours dining was flying like a photo click. They also gave us a birthday deco plate with candle on it and my mum was so happy. After that, they even brought us a birthday cake, and offered that they can help us to take away after photos, since we were having the desert. But things were turned wrong with this troublesome birthday cake. At the point of paying my check, I wrote a special thank you notes on my bill and left some gratuity. The staff who were wearing a name tag with German flag advised that because we were not living at The Reese, I had to pay for the cake with additional $65 to my bill. I was shocked on the spot. I said to her I did not ask for any cakes at all, why I still have to pay for it? She was stopped for secs and replied to me that when I was making a reservation, I also requested a birthday cake. The moment was frozen and I was speechless. I said to her that I only requested a table view table if it can be arranged, not a cake. She then checked the booking notes, vouched what I said. She then told me, I had to give the cake back as she made a mistake that the cake was for somebody else. I left the cake at the end. I still expressed my appreciation to the friendly staffs who served us with gratuity. But the way that the staff who created the cake issue still made clouds on our happy day and I was still so disappointed. I think some of your staffs should have extra customer service trainings to prevent such idiot mistake happened again…..
