This is the ‘new’ waiting room for day surgery at The Avenue Hospital. Not even a side table so my bag is on the floor as a trip hazard. Last time I was here they had recliner chairs and blankets. Its freezing fold. The lady next to me has been waiting over 3 hours. Appalling barely describes what this is and we’re all wondering what private health cover really pays for aside from the Ramsay Health execs and shareholders?
For a person who is petrified of anything medical, my stay was faultless. From checking in to going home, I was made to feel calm and well looked after. Whilst the skill of the Surgeons and Anaesthetists go without saying, it was the care I received from the nurses and catering staff that truely made my stay one that encouraged me to write this review. I'm sure I may have forgotten a couple but being put in the Paterson Ward, I was looked after by Christina, Sarah, Jenny, Benny and James who was my physio. I didn't get the names of the catering staff, but nothing was to much effort, the food enjoyable and a sense of humour helped make my experience a delightful one considering just having had a hip replacement.
I accompanied a family member to The Avenue recently and feel it’s worth noting that while the physical infrastructure is showing signs of wear, the standard of care remains commendably high.nnThe staff were excellent efficient and reassuring throughout. Despite the somewhat dated surroundings, everything ran smoothly and with a minimum of fuss.
I had surgery on my foot 2 weeks ago. The staff were lovely and very efficient. Busy operating theatres but the pre op room was like a big well oiled machine!! The rooms are very nice, decorated well. The food was pretty good too.
I couldn’t be more impressed with my experience at The Avenue! From the excellent private space and food to the incredibly attentive and personable staff, everything exceeded my expectations. A huge thank you to all the nurses who took care of me before and after my surgery: Jenny, Nat, Emma, Ben, Michelle, Helen, Jen, and Alys—you were all amazing
