I had an exceptional experience visiting the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery during my time in Hobart. Amazing Museum and gallery! It’s full of fascinating information, beautifully arranged displays, and exciting stories about different animals. Each zone is so well designed that I could spend the whole day there. I really enjoyed it — and the best part is, there’s no admission fee!

Huge museum with very interesting exhibitions on the history, culture, animals and art of Tasmania presented with rich content and high context. The museum was so big, we could not even „digest“ all information or provided texts, so we focused on some topics and sections of the museum. It is free of entry and a very recommended visit if you have 1-2h available during your stay in Hobart.

One of the best museum in Australia I have visited soo far.nThey have very good collection of animal birds, the butterfly room was spectacular.nIt’s a great place to spend a good time of 1.5 to 2 hours.nA great place and must visit attractions for tourists.

This museum is exceptional if you want a snapshot of Tasmanian history and the arts.nItems of Aboriginal heritage helped me to get a more complete picture of early European settlement in Australia. The displays were very informative without bias.nAs a Furniture maker, the timber furniture  pieces in both the museum and  Art Gallery were outstanding in there construction and design.
