Exceptional food, served by lovely staff in a lovely Indian interior decorated space. HUGE advice though: their dishes are quite hot, so mild has some kick to it. If you love hot food and struggle to find it, I'm positive you'll be impressed by their hot food. They are flexible in the hottness which they cook their food to. Very reasonably priced to, around $10-25 for most dishes.
I moved to Sydney in 2008 in the search for real authentic curry cuisine. I have traveled most of the world and British curries were rated the best. Till I found this place in Newtown.. OMG By far this has to be the BEST curries I have ever eaten, WOW. Highly recommend.
Have had mixed experiences, food can be excellent but it sometimes inexplicably poor. But the weirdest was when a delivery order arrived missing a couple of items. I rang to request a refund on the missing items but was told they would send them as a separate delivery so I would be eating them long after finishing the rest of the meal. Although I wasn't really happy with that, I didn't have much choice. 15 minutes later they rang back to tell me they wouldn't send the items and would instead offer me credit on my next order. Again, I wasn't really happy with this but didn't have any recourse. Unsurprisingly, the next time I rang to make a delivery order, the person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about - so I never got any refund or credit for the missing items.
Possibly the best Indian in Sydney; definitely the best Indian in Newtown. I grew up in Asia so I've eaten a lot of Indian food in my life. This is truly superb and different then normal Indian may be Pakistani influence. . From outside looks small but inside quit big chicken karahi, Lahori fish salad and garlic Naan is the winner.
AVOID! Terrible experience, probably the worst I've ever had ordering takeaway food. Quoted 1.5 hours for delivery, which is a long time in itself. 3 hours later no sign of any food. Rang several times, mostly to go to voicemail, but the couple of times I did get through was told "it's on it's way" clearly not and then rang the managers number left on the voicemail message, who didn't really seem to want to know. Seeing as I had to go get some food from the area they are in anyway I thought I'd drop past to ensure I got a refund, overhearing a phone call it seems they were lying to other people too over the phone about food being on its way and the kitchen looked all but closed.
What a great experience!! Thanks Tabaq!! We had the Lahori Fish & Lamb sheek kabab for starters. Absolutely delicious!! For our mains we had the chicken kadhi with fluffy garlic naans and chicken biryani. Will definitely go back a refer friends as there are not many great and authentic indian flavours in Sydney.
bland, sweet and uninspiring food. this is as far from authentic Indian cooking as you can get. they appear to spend more time giving themselves glowing reviews on various food sites than they do caring about what they serve up to customers. this is the worst food I've had for a long time and that makes me cranky.
The food is quiet amazing, i've been there a few times and omg i love it! Great customer service and great food. I had the chicken tikka and deer karahi and the flavours just explode in your mouth SO TASTY! Recommend it to all, and to be honest it is the best pakistani and indian restaurant in newtown!
Good ambience and the food is very average. Kebabs-grills are not bad to try but nothing stands out when you consider other eat out options in Newtown.
The food was good, but the service and vibe left a lot to be desired. I went with 3 pther people we all shared the same sentiment.
