My first time coming here and this Japanese grocer made me so happy. We saw so many Japanese items that we love using.nnWe also took away some of their bento. Unfortunately, some pieces of the salmon wasn't as fresh and the unagi was a bit tough and had lots of bones. Otherwise the prawns with tobiko was delicious.nnI will come back to get my Japanese essentials next time.
Always good place for shopping for Japanese products. Staff very kindly and helpful. Sushi here is the best. They have 1 kg.Japanese curry sale here. Priced are lovely. My kids love it.
Always mixed feelings leaving this shop. Certain staff working in the sushi area just don’t seem to want to serve. There’s never a greeting or simple “what would you like to order?”, “Can I help” or even just “Hello”. It’s like we are interrupting your day. Your sushi is great but could be even better with a different approach to customer service.
I order sushi from here all the time and I have always been very satisfied with the product except for this time. The radish has been substituted for artificial konjac which makes the dish feel like it is of low grade, for that price point I don’t think substituting radish or even carrot is a wise choice. Also, the konjac is stuck together, we are sharing this meal with friends, it does not look very nice when you are trying to shake and split the konjac. The fish and sushi is the same great quality as always however the konjac instantly converts the dish to a low grade. Is carrot or radish very expensive nowadays? I can understand non-Japanese run sushi shops using the konjac because they might not understand the authenticity but this store is run by Japanese. My friends were Japanese and they said that this was embarrassing.
The Sushi in this unassuming strip shop in Camberwell is absolutely fantastic!! Hands down, the best I’ve had in Melbourne, so fresh! I’ve had it numerous times, and it’s always up to muster. There is also a small Japanese supermarket attached with lots to try.
