IGA Thomastown is very Cost affective and competitive supermarket, they always have specials on sale and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Very clean and organized. I have been shopping at IGA for years and if I ever need something they don't have in stock they will order it in for me to pick up. Awesome service. It can do with a little face lift but that's not a problem for me I love the store as it is . Keep up the great work..
IGA Thomastown is a wonderful example of what a friendly, community-focused supermarket should be. Nestled in the heart of Thomastown, it offers a warm and welcoming shopping experience that makes you feel like more than just a customer — you feel like part of a neighbourhood family. The store is always neat, well-organized, and stocked with a wide range of everyday essentials, fresh produce, and specialty items.nnOne of the best things about IGA Thomastown is its fresh fruit and vegetable section, which consistently offers high-quality, locally sourced produce. The deli and bakery sections are equally impressive, providing freshly made bread, pastries, cheeses, and cold cuts that rival bigger supermarket chains. The aisles are spacious, and prices are reasonable, often featuring great weekly specials that make shopping both affordable and enjoyable.nnWhat truly sets this store apart, however, is its friendly staff. They’re always polite, helpful, and ready to assist with a smile — whether you’re looking for a product or just passing through for a quick shop. The atmosphere feels personal and calm, perfect for those who prefer a relaxed shopping experience without the rush of larger supermarkets.nnOverall, IGA Thomastown delivers the perfect balance of quality, convenience, and community warmth — a reliable local store that reflects true Melbourne suburban hospitality.nn#IGAThomastown #LocalGrocer #MelbourneLife #CommunityStore #FreshProduce #ShopLocal #Thomastown #MelbourneCommunity #FriendlyService #SupportLocal #MelbourneShopping #NeighborhoodVibes #EverydayEssentials
My family has been shopping here for decades, since the 70’s, through all its changes SSW, Tuckerbag etc…nI’m not sure what’s happened to this place in the last 1-2yrs but I’m noticing changes that are not positive.nStaff are becoming less friendly not all but majority.nPrices have gone through the roof in an area that is low socio economic you need to cater for that we spend less there now because of their exorbitant price increases and travel a bit further to Cole’s, Aldi and Woolies for better value.nLift your game, treat customers nicer, look at your pricing and make adjustments to cater to people living in your direct vicinity. We are not rich people living in this area. Cater to it!nOtherwise I can’t see how you’re going to survive, I’m sure takings are becoming less.nIt was not too long ago in the last year or two that I could come in there and get great specials across the board.nThat seems to have disappeared.nNew management is needed by the looks of it, because the whole place has changed and it hasn’t been for the better.nI’m writing this because I’d hate to see this place disappear because of poor management, because as an outsider looking in, it’s seems as though management are out of touch with what is needed in the area.nChange it back to how it was not too long ago.
The store itself is like going back in time to the 1980s, but the deli makes up for it. Great selections of salami, ham, and capocollo, sliced how you want it - and plenty of tasty breads, biscuits and pastries in the bakery section. The staff have always been friendly to me, even just before closing time. If you are looking for large jars of ajvar or plum powidl to accompany a piece of fresh bread, you'll definitely find that here too. Feel like taking a step back in time to the pre-internet world? This is about as close as you'll get.
Rude and humiliating. Staff demanded to check my bag for no reason and treated me like a criminal instead of a customer. Zero respect, zero professionalism. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere and will be escalating this matter further.
