The finest of all Melbourne libraries. One of the most visited in the world. Endless resources, countless study areas. Excellent wifi, 19th Century architecture, well staffed, stairs and lifts, many exhibits. Located close to busy Queen Vic & Melbourne Central. A must see for locals or visitors.
What an amazing building. We were visiting to see Ned Kelly’s armour but saw so much more. The dome room was awesome and definitely worth a trip to level 6 to get a really good view. Outside there were a couple of outdoor chess games set up and plenty of grassed areas to sit. Well worth a visit!
The State Library of Victoria is a truly inspiring place! The atmosphere is calm and serene, making it perfect for reading, studying, or simply relaxing. The stunning architecture and historic design give it a unique, aesthetic charm. The grand La Trobe Reading Room is a must-see, with its beautiful dome and peaceful ambiance. It has a beautiful atmosphere especially in the room in the photo below, lots of seats, easy to study in, has accessible clean toilets. I enjoy going here after school. The only thing I don't like is the closing time. 6 is quiet early, 9 would honestly be nicer. I struggle with focusing whole studying at home and my local libraries they close at 7-8, but they're usually full of kids talking/yelling which I don't like, so it would be nice if it's possible to extend the closing time.
