The building is so stylish that just passing by makes you feel excited. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, making it easy to use. There are plenty of desks, perfect for studying or research, and photocopying facilities are available too. Plus, there’s a trendy café inside the same building, ideal for a refreshing break.
lots of books in many genres, i wish they had more books in general knowledge and education, such as law. the computers are simple and easy to use, and the printing services are cheap. really good place to just spend a quiet day.
I love this library! From the resources to the volunteer led groups, plus the exceptionally kind & helpful staff - there is only positivity to relay about this location. There is ample parking, a variety of seating indoor & outdoor, the amazing aroma of coffee brewing, and a selection of books to choose from. I recently visited this library with a friend to study, but unfortunately, we experienced verbal harassment from a man who made us feel very uncomfortable. He shouted at us, made threatening gestures, and approached us in a menacing manner. We reported the incident to the security, but they were unable to take effective action, merely suggesting that we could be separated from the person instead. As a result, we no longer feel safe studying there and have decided to avoid the library. This was a very negative experience for us.
I have posted a positive review in the past for this library but today and my previous visit has prompted me to call-out the noise level being tolerated by other patrons when they simply want to have some quiet time to read. This is not just for Southport but Runaway Bay and Robina which I have become increasingly frustrated with. Both the staff and security personnel seem to have no power or influence over ignorant individuals who insist on having loud conversations over cake and coffee in the case of Southport. Maybe it’s time for the coffee and food to be taken outside the Southport library as this is a real problem. Children are loud and sometimes running around unchecked. It’s more of a rookery than a library at times. I think libraries need to get back to basics and be quiet and respectful of others using the facilities. Mobile phones are another onerous problem where people have conversations on loud speaker. Really …. go home and do your business there.
