Took my parents there and we had an amazing time. The lodge was amazing and the food was incredible. Fine dining every meal, every day and the only problem is deciding what option to eat. The guides were a stand out, their knowledge and enthusiasm really elevated the already amazing wonders around Kangaroo Island.
Spectacular view from any angle on the property. Definitely one of the most beautiful place I have ever been. The room is beautiful decorated and very generous in size. Totally green hotel with water coming from rain harvesting and solar panels providing electricity. Love all day free flow drinks. Can't get enough of different gorgeous walking routes around the lodge. Plenty of complimentary tours if you wish to venture outside. If you wish to do just one the light house was my favorite. Although if you love animals then go for the seal tour. For an off beaten track lodge such as this, it is vital that the restaurant offers good selection and tasty food. They definitely do not disappoint on this front either. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks here enormously. The only point deduction is due to the fact that majority of the staffs at the hotel are interns. For a small and exclusive property such as this, it is not acceptable that the same staffs keep asking for your names at lunch and dinner. I personally also find it strangely unhygienic that all the staffs keep insisting on shaking our hands when we sit down for meals and about to break our breads. We also overheard a staff complaining about past guests to current guests. However, if you stare out to ocean all the problems in the world just disappeared!!
Absolutely spectacular location. The hotel itself is amazing and the lobby with the sweeping panorama windows just takes you breath away. The tours organized by the hotel are excellent as well. We especially loved the night tour so much so that we went on it twice. The one weak point for us was the restaurant. We had dietary restrictions no gluten which the restaurant was fully aware of, yet every day they would bing us regular bread and etc. We were there a few days and the waiters were mostly the same so it was baffling how they could not remember a simple thing like that. Additionally most of the food is served in "elf" portions, so even if you order 3 course meal you'd end up half way hungry. We worked around it by ordering from the classic menu, but that get old pretty quick.
We spent 2 nights as a family and we loved the place. The lodge is wonderful, the rooms sooo big and stilish. The view amazing and the service excellent. To be honest we expect more on the food side. Good but not exceptional. All the organized tours were conducted professionally and with lot of passion.
Fantastic views of the Ocean from every room. Wild and beautiful surroundings. The great room with a warm fire and well-stocked bar is just the place to spend a lazy day if the weather is not obliging.
Totally fantastic. Super friendly and efficient staff, stunning location, Michelin standard cooking... Cannot recommend highly enough. If you get the chance you should definitely go.
Amazing views from every room, outstanding food and drinks, and very personable service... you really can't go wrong with this place! It's our second time here, it's great having it so close to Adelaide!
Kangaroo Island is a great place to see! So much wildlife and nature. This resort is tops and the staff is quite lovely. The food is amazing and I suggest the healthy salad with quinoa and grains...so yummy.
Literally the best place I’ve ever stayed - best service, best views, nicest building design, amazing food & cocktails, great tours/activities. Treat yourself one day and go here - it will not disappoint!
Hi from everyones' review im pretty sure that SOL is absolutely a spectacular place to stay. I am planning to spend 1 or 2 nights there. But im confused with the rate. I want to book flinders suit for 1 night. But it is saying i hv to stay minimum 2 nights. So how much is the rate for 1 night for 2adults and 2 night for 2 adults... also from the website i cannot see a booking option . So do i hv to contact SOL staff for booking. Thanks in advance.
