Southern Cross railway station is a very huge transport hub for trains, trams, and buses. While it may not be as iconic as Flinders street railway station, it is still very cool. This station is where many different regional v/line trains come and stop at. This station sees Many different trains pull up here, even some as far away as Sydney come to this station, so that's pretty cool. Anyways, this is a very huge and cool station. Would like to see again.
that iconic British feel to the station humbly in Melbourne, Australia. Its been much loved since it's renovation circa 2005. As equally as awesome is the modern electronic advertisement boards screens etc televisions and how as iconic as the British / Australian ingenuity, ironically as women would agree who could ever forget to credit the Ancient Egyptians with inventing eyeliner and mascara and other eye makeup and choosing silver over gold as the most awesome material/commodity of the world. Ahh, silver. nReminds me of that iconic goth movie from last year The Crow 2024, I really enjoyed the effects of black eye paint for men, so iconic. Yet I'm getting off topic here, anyways.nSouthern Cross Station, 5 stars. Its an iconic, multicultural world out there, and it's a joy to always experience Melbourne as if it is the whole world localised entirely to its city and state lines. Cheers.
Discovered a toasty corner to sit with my overstuffed suitcase and have lunch. Everything is signposted and relatively easy to find. People are helpful which is all you can ask when you're away from home.
I have loved southern cross station for a while now, perfect stop over with the 86 trams and some good shops but my experience changed today. Other than the bad air quality in the station was mostly fine other than the lifts at platform 13/14 although I never use this platform I feel bad for the other members of the public who have to deal with the lift, I’m not sure if this was a recent incident but the lift reeked of urine to the point I could barely stay on for 20 seconds and on top of that the lights were very dim which is a hazard.
Great station for train enthusiasts as there are a few train viewing spots as well as a number of interesting info boards. There are 16 platforms but some V-line platforms are split into an A and B side. Suburban trains run platforms 9-13 whilst platform 8s is unused. There are lots of great shops at the station, as well as a few vending machines.
