I’ve spent the last fourteen days eating my way across this region, and I’ve finally found the peak. It is actually a bit inconvenient how good this was because now I have to factor a return flight into my annual budget just for another dinner. The service was a masterclass in being present without being hovering. Joel was incredibly attentive, and even the manager stopped by for some genuine conversation rather than the usual scripted check-in. It is rare to find a place that actually lives up to the travel fatigue, but this spot managed it effortlessly.
If you don’t come here while you’re in New Plymouth you are going to regret it! It’s the best meal I’ve had in New Zealand! This place truly deserves a Michelin star! Don’t hesitate and treat yourself to an elegant dinner with flavor and great drinks!
Very good good and service. Also a good selection of wines.nThe waitress explained the shared plate choices. We setted on a small plate the flaming haloumi a large plate of the very delicious lamb and two plates of veges. That was plenty for two of us.
The food was just so so, but why served me sparkling water and didn’t tell me that cost $13.5? Medium steak was obviously overcooked and you said that’s how New Zealanders cook? We waited 40mins to have our food on table, so that we missed the sun set. What a terrible dinner is that.
Absolutely loved our experience at Social Kitchen! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Every dish was a standout — the pork belly was perfectly soft and rich, the beetroot salad was fresh and vibrant, and the fish was cooked beautifully. You can really tell there's care in both the food and the service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in New Plymouth
