I went here with a group of about 15-20 for lunch on a Wednesday. They managed the group booking well, asked us to order ahead and brought out our food quickly once we arrived. I had the eggplant angolotti, which was alright. My friends didn't think their food was amazing, so I don't think we'll be going back. However, that might just be our taste. The restaurant itself had really good vibes, great service, and a nice outdoor rooftop area as well.
Great bar/ restaurant. Went there for an afternoon work get together. Wouldn't know it was there! Service was good, food was great. The chicken burger was ultra crispy.Food: 5/5
Hidden gem, first stumbled upon this place five years ago and visited regularly when I lived in Melbourne. Five years later I’m back on holiday and delighted that Slate is as good as ever with probably the best happy hour in Melbourne! Even if they don’t provide free chips like they used to
We came here for a team lunch and most people already pre-ordered. I was a last minute addition but they took my order and the food arrived the same time as everyone else's, so I really appreciated that. My gnocchi with veal ragu was tasty but the gnocchi texture was like powdery marshmallow and quite distracting. My colleagues also rated their meals at 3 out of 5. Lively vibes to enjoy a meal and happy hour in modern but classy decor. Service was friendly but perhaps too efficient after we finished eating - one colleague joked maybe they've run out of crockery... There was also a 9 cent charge for pre-ordering, which in my opinion is a bit petty. Melbourne's gastronomic scene is highly competitive so this has room for improvement.
The place is excellent, staff is attentive and friendly. They came to us thrice, once to let us know the specials for the day, to take down the orders and then to check if we are enjoying or not. : the 20 dollar drinks cum lunch combo is really good. Loved the cheeseburger, it was so juicy and yummy.. Pretty heavy though. Ambience is quite good. Highly recommended.
Drinks special kinda value and good during happy hour!?Food: 5/5
Service was great, staff are awesome, for an early evening visit with not too many people there the music/DJ was probably a bit loudService: 5/5
A fantastic place to go for a tasty lunch, post work drinks or host a work function. They also have great happy hour drink prices from 4pm We recently had a post work function on the rooftop, and it was catered for perfectly. The fried chicken and arancini balls were my favourites! Manager Ilyas was very friendly and all of his staff were attentive. The rooftop area is well heated so you can enjoy at any time of the year! Highly recommend for all to come to Slate and check it out!
Came here for a work lunch and ordered the battered barramundi. Barramundi was yum, tartare and salad wass yum. Chips was yum but very minimal. You can see from the pictures that there were gaps on the plate. Would've appreciated a little more generosity of chips given the dish was about $25.
I went office party. Non alcoholic drinks are average, food is ok. It's good for ambience but for personally I dont prefer to spend here my own money.
