Join us and experience the real Middle-earth™ at the Hobbiton Movie Set, where, in the heart of the Waikato region, you can step into the lush pastures of the Shire™, as seen in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the unequivocal beauty of the land, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how
the movie magic was made.

You will be taken around the 12 acre set; past Hobbit Holes, the Mill and into the world-famous Green Dragon™ Inn, where you will be presented with a complimentary, exclusive beverage to conclude your own Middle-earth™ adventure.

I was not expecting great things as they have a captive audience, but we were pleasently surprised. The prices were very reasonable and the food tasty. The food we ordered came quickly and there were plenty of tables. A nice place for a lunch.

Good variety for an isolated spot, and not overly pricey. Hot dog with chips was a great option for the kids and good seating with umbrellas. They could do with a small natural playground for families with children, maybe next to the ice cream hut (NZ Natural ice cream, yum!). And no smoking would be great.

Food was reasonably priced. The place could be spruced up a bit, taking into consideration that it is a tourist destination. Service could be better- waitress wasnt very accommodating when I informed her that I'd received the wrong sized coffee. The nicest thing about the place was the toilet...

The breakfast and views here are great! Their mochaccino was really good, and their prices are comparable to most Cafe's we experienced throughout the North island. The Second Breakfast was tasty with a very generous portion. The Eggs Benedict was actually the best I'd had in the North island (out of about 10), as much as I'd hate to give the privilege to such a main tourist attraction. The bacon was perfectly crisped on both dishes. I'm not sure about the rest of their menu, but if you're in the mood for breakfast, it's fantastic.

Super rude and not very helpful people there, with the exception of one server. Looked in the pastry fridge to order, asked for sausage rolls but we're told they weren't available right now even though there were tonnes left. Then ordered 2 burgers and 2 large teas ($40 bucks later), and was given a small cup with a small pot of hot water. The server said just ask for hot water if we wanted more. We asked for three refills of just hot water, not extra tea bags or milk, but we're promptly told off and told 2 refills was enough and if we wanted more hot water we'd have to pay more...for hot water...maybe it's just me but I didn't know hot water was in such high demand. Burger was ok, fries tasted bad. Really a horrible start before our 160 buck tour. Super poor form.
