Great fish and chips! The batter was very light and crisp and the fish was super fresh! We topped it up with an extra Barra grilled to perfection. Tasty fish and chips. Gummy recommended, firm and fresh. We had the family takeout for 4. Friendly staff and humble interiors with a few tables out in front. Limited car park, but OK if you are just doing a takeout Bonus - walk across the road for a lovely beach with great photo opportunities!
Came here for lunch and ordered two flakes, one grilled gluten-free and one fried, a small chips, two calamari rings, battered prawn and two soft drinks. The chips were a fantastic size, easily enough for three people and cooked in fresh oil. The flake was beautifully cooked, juicy and had very crispy batter. Had the best calamari rings ever, weren’t chewy in the slightest and the batter was just unbelievable! Fantastic food and fantastic service! Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Would easily rate ten stars if possible!!!
Go here for your fish and chips. We have been on the hunt for great fish and chips around Rye. Hard to find right… Well as someone that grew up eating fish and chips it’s also nostalgic but has to be done right. The fish was perfectly cooked and so crispy and the chips were so crunchy. We ordered a medium between two. Which might be a bit excessive but we got through them with the help of a few seagulls. They also do sweet potato cakes. First time I’ve had them and I’d have them again too. Hope this helps support these locals who have kept traditional fish and chips alive on the Penisula! Big thanks!!!
Best chips I think I’ve ever had from a fish and chip shop. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Potato cakes and flake were yum too. Friendly service when I picked it up and on time with how long they said on the phone.Their value packs are great. We ordered meal for 2 plus an extra piece of flake. We were both really hungry but stuffed full afterwards. Probably would have been comfortably satisfied with just the meal. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had! I got two fish bites, sweet potato cakes, a south Melbourne dim sim and chips. The batter on the fish was particularly good. Every bite had fish in it. Absolute rubbish. I must congratulate this business for allowing my family and myself to experience the WORST fish and chips of my 50 years of existence. Disgraceful that the people cooking this rubbish thought it was suitable for consumption. Never seen anything like it, and obviously a complete waste of money. Oh, and in case you don't recognise what those oval discs are, they are supposed to be potato cakes.
@saltfishchips Dromana Meal Pack - Flake, Potato Cake, Chips, Dim Sim Salt Fish and Chips is a takeaway shop located on the Main Street of Dromana. As the best rated fish and chip shop we could find on Google, it was a no brainer for us to give them a visit. The place was extremely busy, we were unsure if this was because it was very good or just because it was the only shop still open after 7pm. We each opted for their $14 Meal Packs for 1, their Meal Packs for 2 are $29 which doesn’t make much sense value wise. Overall we did enjoy our fish and chips and would reorder. The fish was very thin, so it was quite dry but the batter was great. Dimmies and Potato Cakes were perfect, chips could’ve been a little crunchier. 3.5/5 $$
Very exceptional fish and chip shop. Grilled flake was fresh and cooked to perfection. Batter was light and crispy. Hamburger with the lot was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. Servings were generous and pricing was excellent.
Visiting from the US and this place blows away any other fish and chips I’ve had. Very friendly and honest owner. Did not bribe me with free food or drink for a review. Also liked the fact that he used the tip I gave him to donate it to the local firefighters.
