Story

At Schnappa Rock Restaurant and Bar we pride ourselves in using local produce to provide diners with a "Pacific" orientated eating experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

Placed on the shoreline of the picturesque Tutukaka Harbour, the restaurant is a unique Fale style building with ample dining seating and a spacious bar.

Established in 1992 by Pete and Tina Vink, Schnappa Rock is now one of the icons of the community, a place where locals mix and mingle with international tourists and the Kiwi holiday makers, who flock to the area to experience the world renowned Poor Knights diving waters, and classic New Zealand beaches.

Schnappa Rock is the perfect venue for the post-dive-trip drinks and dining evening, a quiet drink, romantic meal, family celebration or the company function.

Come and join hosts Nick and Esther, a welcoming staff and head chef Kurt Morgan, for an experience you will not forget.

Tasty & well presented dishes.  Attentive service. Arrived without a booking & had a drink in the bar before being seated for dining 20mins later.  Bathroom facilities clean & tidy.  Quality dishes which were reflected in the prices. For me, it was nice for a special occasion but would remember to book in future.

Nice food with great service. Menu hasn't changed in a long time though and could do with a refresh. Had the fritters to start and the pork main. Both were nice but not amazing. Restaurant feels a little closed in considering the location. The staff didn't seem to mind our kids playing hide and seek in the outside bar area which was nice.

Came with my husband for dinner, I ordered the lamb and it was spectacular! Presentation was just beautiful and the flavours were simply amazing. My husband had the fish of the day with couscous and was very happy. Atmosphere is great, nice decor and friendly staff, too bad we were at Tutukaka just for 1 day or I would dine at this place as often as I could!

Food was great, staff were friendly and location was superb. I do however think they need to work on getting a kids meal list on the menu. This would have made my kids and my wallet happier

Lovely restaurant with alfresco dining options.   I had the clam and mussle chowder which was packed full of fresh seafood  and delicious. The service was good at a busy time of the year.  My boyfriend had a vegetarian version of a beef burger that was adapted for him and was tasty as well. Our only suggestion is that the restaurant adds more vegetarian options to the menu and indicates on the menu which meals can be swapped to vege.
