Grace and I love Sakana. It is inexpensive and good quality. My favourites are the Japanese pancakes and the spring rolls. From memory, together these cost around $5:00 and are filling. They do have more variety than that though. We've usually popped in for a quick bite when in a hurry, so we've only had a chance to try out a few of the other menu items. So far, in over a half dozen visits, we've been impressed every time.
JUST OK FAST FOOD JAPANESE STYLE The Prahran Central Shopping Centre is not exactly a gourmet paradise. Think bain maries filled with fried rice, stir fried dishes and lots of soft drinks. Sakana is one of about 10 outlets in the centre. The food is just OK - if you want something better you should skip across to the Prahran Market where the food court there has much better quality offerings

This is your general menu quick Asian takeaway. Sushi, Beef in black bean sauce, Chicken and rice, Spring Rolls, Dim Sims, Soft drinks. Quick and easy take away. Prices are reasonable. However the service could come with a smile as the past few times I have bought from there the man was lacking any kind of enthusiasm in my being a customer and I wondered if he is so miserable why continue on. So for the quality of food which you can buy at any Asian takeaway mixed with the miserable face and that serves me I doubt very much if I will return after years of putting up with this.
Awful service by the young boy there who served me today 7th Jul 22 at around 1.47pm. I bought takeaway for my usual snacks on my 15mins break, shocked with how rude he was. He wrapped the steamed dimsum I purchased in the paper which I usually got on little plate or small plastic container. How can I eat that as so sticky on the paper and no fork/spoon given. When I asked he said can put the soy sauce in that paper. Lucky his co worker probably the owner saw that and gave me the plate & fork. I thanked and spoke to him that next time I don't want to be served by that person anymore. Surprisingly this rude individual responded " then you shouldn't come back here". I just left my food on the counter, lost my appetite at all having such horrible customer service with that guy. I fulfill his wish for not coming back ever to their place and for sure telling my colleagues and whomever I know to stay away from this place. No wonder this place is quiet compare to others in the Prahran foodcourt, thought I would just supporting the local business in this hard time but seeing his attitude like that towards customers, good luck then for your business to survive! Feel sorry to the owner to have such a horrible staff when serving the customers with no manner at all. You will lose your business if keep having him. The older guy & the lady who usually there, are a lot better and never have any issue with them before.
So happy I stumbled across this place. There is little to no options for sushi around Chapel St. These guys have the freshest sushi, good vegetarian options and all well priced and tasty.
Pretty good sushi rolls, if you go down to this restaurant before afternoon. They also give lots of pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi!!
Really bad food and chicken with lots of fat and bones
The black bean incredible recommend
Very delicious meals, specially chicken curry, good portions and price
