so, the low-down on lucy – she was a fiery 4th century sicilian, whose bravery, heroism and typically gory end (google it), saw her become sainted and now associated with all things light and illuminative.
great, but how exactly does she relate to a café you ask? well, apart from the obvious nod to uq’s address (we are situated on the ‘st lucia’ cane plantations purchased by william wilson in the 1860s), our menu is inspired by her italian heritage and we like to think that her great courage and tenacity makes her both an ideal fit for our team and the perfect enlightened vision for our venue. besides, who wouldn’t want a little saintly patronage?
