Stayed here ahead of an international flight and had a great stay. Bed was so comfortable and blackout curtains worked well. Surprised I didn't hear any planes either, it was very quiet! Room was comfortable with everything you need and just a minute walk from the airport where you can buy food from Macca's, a bakery and a couple of cafes or they had their own restaurant there too. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Avoid at all costs – poor service, poor standards, and misleading chargesnOur experiences with Rydge's Sydney International Airport have been consistently disappointing, to the point where I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone and we have been staying here for many years.nThe first concerning negative encounter was two months ago when my husband and adult daughter stayed the night before an early flight. I specifically booked a two-bed configuration, yet on check-in they were told the room only had one double bed and they were expected to share. No apology, no solution, just a complete disregard for the booking that had been confirmed.nFast forward to today, and the experience somehow managed to get worse. I checked in, had a meal at Smithy's BAR, and ordered a bottle of Mumm Champagne from Reims, France to take back to the room and charged $165 accordingly. I didn’t realise until I was back in my room that the bottle delivered was not French Champagne at all, but a much cheaper New Zealand sparkling wine branded “Mumm”.nI called reception and was told I needed to return the bottle to the bar, despite this being entirely their mistake. After waiting 10 minutes with no follow-up, I called again and was told, “We’re a large hotel, it will take time.” In the end, I had to walk back down myself with the incorrect bottle. To make matters worse, the bar staff didn’t even have the correct bottle available and had to leave the bar to source one.nThis hotel clearly struggles with basic service standards, accuracy, and accountability. The convenience of being “close to the airport” does not make up for poor room management, misleading charges, and staff who seem uninterested in resolving issues they created.nThere are plenty of far better hotels nearby, and a short, inexpensive taxi ride will give you a significantly better experience. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere
Contrary to soem reviews 3pm check in and a team member smiling and helped me self check in. Within 8 minutes was in the room. Room is good and clean and tv turn on and channels all available from aussie TV. Smyths downstairs was fair priced, bar service and order taken pleasant and friendly. Food ok somethinga could have been hotter. Morning breakfast is more toast or pattiserie croissant based of which service ok BUT as with the churrios last night which were not close to even being warm, the croissants at 9 am was palatable but did not feel fresh and a bit hard texture tbh. After breakfast went to go back to the room and couldn't get in. Had to go back downstairs to have it reactivated. Staff member done this when explained and asked, communication skills and eye contact would be good. Got in the room, stayed a little longer and checked out before 11 am. Different receptionist, polite and helpful and communicated.nWould I stay here again, overall yes. Had come from domestic flight for next day international and it was relaxing overall ans smyth service was very good but desert could have waited until actually ready and finished the main and of course warm churrios would be good initially warm at least. Staff in the bar were very good, friendly and professional.
This hotel cannot be beaten for location next to Sydney International Airport, and is worth staying at for that reason alone. The rooms are clean, and with everything you actually need, but miss a few things that would be nice. First, whether by design, or sloppy housekeeping our room had only 3 cartons of milk necessitating a trip to reception for more. The television channels are a poor selection, but you can chromecast if you have the technology. The breakfast buffet 7.30am was OK but dissapointedly only warm. Staff are pleasant. One tip, if you like a good cup of tea, bring your own Teabags.
Location is brilliant for overseas travel. When you’re boarding a long flight the following day, a good night sleep is essential. Not the case.nA/C was that loud we had to turn it off. Pillows were like a bag of fairy floss and bed uncomfortable. With the exuberant cost of the room, you would expect better.
