Absolutely disgusting treatment at IGA Richies Rowville. My elderly mum went to buy some groceries yesterday and whilst a lovely young man was serving her at the register, it was unfortunate that he had missed scanning a quarter piece of watermelon which she proceeded to put in her grocery bag, not realising that she ultimately hadn’t paid for it. She was approached by some people who were patrolling the area and they proceeded to accuse her of shoplifting. Firstly they accused her of not paying for her groceries which she provided them with a receipt to prove she had indeed paid for her groceries, they then told her that she hadn’t paid for the watermelon to which she replied that she hadn’t realised the young man at the register hadn’t scanned it and she was happy to go back to pay for it. Completely ignoring her request to go back and check with the young man at the register, they asked her to follow them upstairs and if not, they threatened to call the police. Upon holding her there for more than an hour, they made her sign something to say she was in the wrong. She’s been shaken up and hasn’t slept properly since the incident. My mother has been shopping at IGA for decades to help support the community and local businesses and after being made to feel like a criminal will never set foot in an IGA Richie’s again. This was clearly a set up and all involved should be ashamed of themselves.
This is my 100% go to for fruit. Other places may be cheaper however, this store always has the highest quality. Never been let down with their produce.
Such a beautiful store. A pleasure to shop in as their range is huge. Staff are very friendly and helpful, range of Billson's cordials and sodas are excellent too! I'm happy to travel the extra distance from home just to shop here.
