These geezers have everything. Brings back now hazy memories of a childhood spent in Europe waiting for my mum to stop marvelling at sausages various, and for my dad to stop questioning anchovies.nnTime stretched to eternity.nnYet! here now I am, marvelling at all the same produce and more. If you're ever in need of a reasonably priced spinach or 20L of olive oil, Psarakos is your mate. You will leave with more than you came for. Very rad, very cool.
Great selection of dry goods like corn chips, snack foods and a good variety of packaged nuts at fair prices with several Australian grown nut products.nWalking thru the meat section to get to the veggie section is s bit off putting. The smell of meat and seafood is really strong. The fruit and veggies is wide and varied and fresh too. I think they have good turnover.nGood deli too.nAlso a supermarket to the right that I did not see or was made aware till the 3rd visit!nOpening hours are quite good too.
Such a great spot for all the yummy essentials!nnI had such a great afternoon here joining Ross Karavis for a tasting of Nico Lazaridi wines from Northern Greece. It felt like stepping into a story.... Each wine offered something unique.nnThe Magic Mountain 2017 had a beautiful balance of power and elegance. It reminded me of Bordeaux in its structure but had a soul that was unmistakably Greek.nnThe Xinomavro 2020 was a standout. The tannins and acidity brought Nebbiolo to mind, but the savoury depth and character made it feel completely its own.nnThe Malagousia and Assyrtiko showed how exciting Greek whites are! Malagousia was fragrant, while Assyrtiko had that minerality edge that makes it so refreshing.... We bought a few bottles to enjoy at home!nnWhat made the tasting special was Ross himself.... the way he spoke about the wines brought them to life. It wasn’t just about flavour notes, it was about history, culture, and identity.nnI walked away with a deeper appreciation for Greek wine and how it carries both heritage and modern expression.
This is a brilliant market! It's got everything you could possibly want in fresh produce and groceries. It's not the sort of place you'd shop of you're looking for super cheap prices, but it's is the sort of place to go if you're looking for something a little fancy, a bit higher end than your regular supermarket. It's like a massive Harris Farm, but with alcohol and patisserie and a butcher inside. They have dry goods too, and international snacks. We'll worth a visit.
Fruit and vegetables are of a very poor standard ; obviously been in cold storage out the back for a long time.nAnd the owner is very rude. He pushes in while the girls are serving to open the cash register, stuffs his pockets with $50 notes and leaves, without a word. Feels like an awful place to work.
