Got a diagnosis on the noise coming from the wheel. Advise it was the outer CV joint needed replacing, Quoted $862 for that including GST, Took the diagnosis to another mechanic in the same area. Charged $500 in total for a wheel bearing, nothing to do with a cv joint + the mechanic said to replace a CV joint doesn't cost that much! should be around the $350 mark. Paid a diagnosis fee of $90 excl GST for nothing otherwise friendly people there Cars running perfectly now.

Awful. Had my master break cylinder repaired there. I sourced the part and had this delivered to their workshop. I was originally quoted around $120 p/h and the job should take a little over an hour. I needed my car back that night hence had made arrangements that if the part got to them before 12pm (I paid the urgent courier) that they could get it completed before close of play. I checked with courier at 10am, who said it had been sent and should be arriving at approx 10.30am. I called Ponsonby Automotive at 2pm to make sure they had got the part, they claimed they had never received it. Then a battle commenced. Parts place and the courier confirmed they had delivered it at around 10.45am. Ponsonby Automotive claimed they never received it. 10 calls later back and forward, the courier driver went into the shop and pointed to the guy who signed for it. Amazingly the part then miraculously arrived. However it was now 'physically impossible' to get the job done today. so I had to borrow a friends car that night and the Urgent courier costs were wasted. I got my car back the next day with a bill circa $300 (so around 2 1/2 hours labour) and certainly no apology we losing the part temporarily. Story is not done. 2 weeks later the break light turns on, and a few days later my breaks fail - luckily I was parked when they went. I topped up the break fluid, and took it back to them. They claimed the part was faulty. I have just gone and got a second opinion, and apparently all is OK - hence the installation must have been done poorly and they tightened is up when I took it in. Where is the honesty??! If you make a mistake - just own up. I'm really gutted as I thought I had found a trust worthy central mechanic - couldn't be further from the truth.

Really quite bad. I took my van in for some work, came back fixed but was running high so told them and they said that's the way it always ran?! I took it back when I needed a WOF and asked them to address the running speed of the engine. Quite some money later I got the van back and it seemed like they'd fixed the engine running so high... then it started to stall at junctions. I rang them and said that it was stalling out and they said it needs a new carburettor and they wanted another $500 to fix it! Not sure why they didn't tell me any of this when they had it and it could have all been fixed then instead of charging me more for labour to take it apart again. I really can't recommend the garage at all.

I've had some major problems with my Kia and been an extremely annoying customer for them, but they have been very patient, given me fair prices and helped me out a great deal. Recommended.
