Due to urgent travel plans and appointment unavailability at my regular service centreMax Kirwan Mazda, I booked for my Mazda 3 service at Penfold Madza Hawthorn. This was my first experience with them and was a very disappointing one. I got a call that the brake pads needed urgent replacement and got a quote for approx $800+ incl gst and I said yes as I had to travel the next day. After service & travel, when I called my usual service centre I was quoted approx $200 less! When I called Penfold again to ask about that same they said they can’t disclose more information and can’t do anything. I feel their service charges are not transparent and the staff wasn’t very helpful to resolve my query. Won’t be able to recommend them to anyone! I have been going to Max Kirwan for 8 years and never had any such issues! Infact have recommended 6 friends who bought cars from Max Kirwan over the years.
Manager there James is always a joy to deal with, my partner and I bring our car in and will continue to.
Good service centre but a lot to improve. They usually charge 30 to 40 AUD high for their spare parts. For example my CX 5 wipers cost 80 AUD if I buy from external, but these guys charge 120 AUD. Small things that are included in warranty are charged, for example key battery, they charge you almost 30 AUD to replace where as you can buy it for 10 AUD in ebay and do it yourself. Wheel rotation isn't considered a necessity and often ignored. The worst part, they charge you almost 10 AUD more if you pay by card..!! Duh!! What age are you guys living in.. Your service book isn't updated, that is the most annoying part and have to go. back AGAIN to get it sealed. Not gonna leave my car here anymore unless I am smelling a barrel..
James and the team were amazing, I had a sensor problem with my transmission that my regular mechanic was unable to diagnose. Got my car back a day ahead of schedule and they also cleaned it inside and out. Couldn't ask for more.
I don't own a Mazda but Penfold Mazda is very close to where my car with a flat tyre was. I went there asking for a gun to remove the tyre's bolts and offered money for that: a kind and extremely professional mechanic came to my car with all her tools to help me substituting the flat tyre and then didn't want any money or coffee for her service. No words could be enough to thank her for what she did! I recommend this service place due to their excellent customer service.
Penfold Mazda is a great car retailer. Absolutely customer focussed, service oriented and result driven. We always have a great experience here when we take our car in for a service. They are friendly on the phone and friendly in person. Helpful to the core and professional in their tasks. Services are of good value and they go through everything in detail. Our car gets an additional clean and they always deliver ahead of time. Even the spare car is new and well maintained. Some customers I met here have been regular for years. Why not? Look no further, this is the standard.
The team at the Hawthorn Mazda repair centre are great! My car was ready earlier than expected, drives beautifully and they were even able to fix up a couple of other little extra things for me a very little extra cost. Great service!
The staff at Mazda are helpful and friendly. The service provided fast and reliable. Appreciate that they went an extra mile sorting out my vehicle's immobiliser with no fuss whatsoever. Would definitely recommend the service to a friend! Five stars from me! Great job!
Spoke to James at Penfold Hawthorn who was very helpful with a friendly tone of voice. We required replacement of 2 rear shock absorbers on a 2015 CX-3 purchased new from Penfolds. All servicing done to date with Penfold Hawthorn. Quote provided for the work was $1100-. Sensing this was excessive I sought quotes from 5 other sources all with near 5 star reviews. Lowest $480- dearest $560- all fitted, with other add ons like car washed, and Uber home for free. Parts quoted are for the KYB who I understand make the factory shockers used by Mazda. One quote was for the KYB was $200.95ea, $550- fitted. With this information I again spoke with James Mazda Hawthorn who couldn’t improve the price quoted. Unfortunately for Mazda they have now lost our business for ongoing service and we will not buy Mazda again. For me it is simple, they have breached our trust with price gouging and I no longer have faith in their integrity, and that is a total deal breaker. So buyer beware and don’t get ripped completely by unethical overcharging by Mazda.
Quoted me $1500 for repairs, even after I explained we wanted to do the bare minimum to keep the car running. Then went to our usual place where we paid $285 instead. Some of the things didn't need doing at all, one of them could wait until the next service.
