I recently visited NZ from Melbourne, Australia with my partner and hired a car from Pegasus Car Rentals. Drove to Taupo where my rental vehicle was stolen from my hotel accommodation. I informed Pegasus who left me high and dry with no replacement car or any offer of assistance, saying it was not their problem! What a disgusting way to treat their customers. Needless to say I’ll never be hiring from them again!

Pegasus are extremely good value for money and service.  Pick up from airport to their base.  Less expensive than other rental places.  Cars slightly older, don't expect new, but totally fine.  This is the second time I have used them.  Very happy with the little zippy Mazda Demi provided.

I had an awful experience trying to book with Pegasus Rentals. After making a booking, and receiving the rental agreement, I read it thoroughly and discovered that I had not held my licence for over 5 years, which breached their agreement. I rang to check if there was any way to work around this. The person on the phone said it would be "fine" and "not to worry". I insisted that I wanted a written acknowledgement of that fact and they said "just sort it out when you arrive". This was not an option to me, as I was arriving from overseas, and my plans required a rental car, if it didn't work out, I would be in trouble. After several minutes they finally figured out that I would need to email their manager, which I did.  After numerous delayed communciations, the manager informed me that my license would not allow me to hire a car with Pegasus, but that I could acquire an international driver's licence. I asked for written confirmation that this document would be sufficient, but received no reply for weeks, even after prompting for an answer. After ringing failed to connect me with the manager, I cancelled the booking ensuring to call, and not just email - as my emails rarely recieved replies.  In the end, I went with my backup company - Sixt who, though a little more expensive, took care of me incredibly well. I highly recommend them.  Given the poor communication, and incompetence of staff who did not understand the terms of their own rental agreement, I would recommend steering clear of Pegasus no pun intended. Car rentals are complex, and sorting them out propely and clearly is important for both renter and rentee. Pegasus failed at this.

Rented a Toyota Corolla for a month.   Rental process was smooth and efficient.   Pick up and return were smooth and efficient.   Shuttle to/from airport were, you guessed it, smooth and efficient.   Car was clean and reliable.   What more could I ask for?

I picked up the vehicle after hours and the exchange with the hotel next door was simple.  I was on my way and happy with the car I received for my journey.  The car was clean and tidy and ran well the whole time I was in New Zealand.  Drop off was convenient and I was even given a lift back to the airport, what excellent service.  I easily saved a few hundred dollars going with Pegasus, as they are the best priced rental car company near the Auckland airport.  I highly recommend them for your next trip to New Zealand.

I have used Pegasus Rental Cars Dunedin three times now.  Their service cannot be faulted.  During my last trip to Dunedin I had to extend my car hire twice and Warren couldn't have made the process any easier.  You are brilliant!

I would recommend Pegasus Car rentals at Auckland Airport, the prices to hire the vehicles is reasonable and also the insurance you pay. the Fleet is older but they are in great condition. The customer service is great I had a last minute car hire and within calling them they had sent my contract information etc to me with 10mins. Great Service and the pick up and drop of service is easy I would recommend Pegasus Car Rentals Auckland Airport.

My wife and I have hired rental cars from Pegasus at both Dunedin and Auckland airports. This year we have used Auckland Airport Pegasus twice and will continue to use them. Online booking is straightforward, prices are very reasonable,  and they have been prompt in collecting us and returning us to the terminals. The cars we have had have been clean, in very good condition, reliable and economical. I highly recommend this company for their service and and their vehicles!

Wonderful rental car experience with Pegasus. We rented a car while in New Zealand working as winemakers and kept it for two months. Pegasus provided us with a great little car at a very reasonable price. Our check in and check out was seamless, and there was never any issues with our car. I spent a whole day researching companies in Auckland and I'm very glad I found Pegasus! If you're in the market for a quality, affordable rental car with no hassle, you've found it!
