Paper Road Winery and Bistro

Story

Paper Road was established in 2004 and is a Wairarapa specialist producer of Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines created from fruit grown on the family owned single vineyard beneath the Tararua Ranges. The Bistro is located on this vineyard and the wines reflect the climate and soils of this location - terroir.

From growing the fruit in the vineyard, to creating, aging, and bottling the wines in the winery, to the sale of the wines in the Bistro these wines have been completely created at this location.

The vineyard was named “Paper Road” after the many rural roads in NZ that were planned but never formed and only exist on maps. Our vineyard is on such a road.

Absolutely great place to come for lunch in Masterton. I ordered the Deluxe-Tararua meat pizza, and it tasted amazing. The meat on the pizza was of a very high quality, and the pizza was cooked perfectly, making the pizza taste amazing. I also ordered a chocolate sundae for desert, which was also very good. The staff at the restaurant are also super friendly. Will definitely be back!
Held my 65th birthday celebration there. They were happy to hold closed venue for around 40 guests. Tasty food options were appreciated and complimented by many of my guests. I found the staff very engaging and accommodating with personal preferences. They checked in with me several times to check that I was happy with how things were going, serving staff were very attentive and accommodating, lots of outside room for the kids to run around and play, and vines made a great backdrop for photos. Thanks Wingate Lane. You were fabulous and I’d choose you again!
Fantastic lunch - beautiful food, excellent wine list, outstanding service. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. Best Lamb Curry I have ever had, hubby had the meatloaf and loved it, excellent hearty winter meal. Finished off with Affogatto which was the perfect way to end our Anniversary lunch. The dining room was very busy but the Service couldn’t be faulted. Highly recommend.
This place is an excellent choice for dinner, the lamb rump steak, parmesan cheese pizza and steak were all delicious choices. They also open for breakfast. Prices are very reasonable given the location.
We went with our car club for a breakfast, around 40 people in all; our set menu orders were chosen and emailed a week in advance. We arrived at 9.30am but it was nearly 90 minutes before the first breakfasts eggs bennys arrived, and those were cold!nI think they were short-staffed? The later meals were warmer, it was two hours by the time we'd all eaten. But overall the meals were good.
